  • A single NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Ti 12GB graphics card and its drivers will be installed and stress tested.

Is there an option for this or just a typo?

  • +6

Typo, thanks for pointing that out

    Gaming PC R5 5500 + RX 6650XT $699

has been OOS/dead link for a few weeks now.

Can we have an upgrade option for a 4 ram/2 m2 slot MB?
the current offering almost forces buyers to upgrade rams/ssd at ridiculous pricing (109 for 32gb, 99 for 1TB!!), but I think that's the intention behind the specs

  • What are the build times currently when ordering with techfast?

    • +1

We advertise 5-10 business day lead time before dispatch for ozb deals.

I just need a good price on a 4070. Do you sell GPUs individually?

  • +4

this is a pretty good deal

got a 5600 and 6800 for like 1150 couple months ago

    • How does 4070 compared to 6800?

      • Beats it with better feature set and RT/PT performance.

        • Thanks, will it beat 6800XT?

          • +2

@congo: On the aggregate it's about the same at 1440p, but you have DLSS for image quality and frame generation, you have better raytracing, you have much better path tracing, and you have AV1 encoding. Sometimes they perform the same in a given game, sometimes one is better, so I would check most for games you play regularly or want to game competitively in.

Against the 7800XT, you have the same benefits with the RTX 4070, and AV1 encoding quality is so far better.

OP any chance of a 4070 ti upgrade option?

  • +1

For people who are PC gaming savy, how much money would I have to spend for:

    1. A gaming PC of similar power to an xbox one x
    2. Alternately, a gaming PC able to run DOTA on the highest settings

    Cheers!

    • -2

      About $400

      • +15

? Brand new?? or used?? I doubt you can do brand new for that price.

    • +5

This one is faster than xbox one x, but once you start going below this level, imo the performance tradeoffs are not worth the price savings.
This is a good deal - jump on it. Alternatively you could probs scrape together a sub-$1000 build with Ryzen 5 5600 and RX 6700… but that would be a. lot. less performant on the GPU front compared to the RTX 4070.

Btw - DOTA is insanely easy to run. Could crank the settings on an APU and still hit 60fps at 1080p probably…
      EDIT: OP's RX580 build would slay DOTA - https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/789846

      • +1

Sorry I meant an xbox series X (the newest model)

Thanks for your detailed comments and suggestions. How much do you compromise when the PC is in a smaller case or is it not worth doing? I don't have a lot of desk space which makes the xbox handy with it's compact size

        • +1

You just won't get price comparable to a console with the same footprint + performance on a pc. Consoles have huge advantages in both those regards. ITX builds (small size/footprint) are notoriously pricey, as manufacturers know they can charge more for a niche product. I'm not an expert, but for your second question, DOTA is a pretty cpu bound game, from my brief research just now, but it is also poorly optimised for modern computers, so it's quite hard to run at max settings at consistent high frame rates. If you don't have interest in continuing to upgrade, an am4 cpu or apu probably makes sense, if you're just interested in playing dota. It's hard to know exactly what to recommend without more information. Primarily what resolution and framerate you want to play at.

          • @zantaRay: I have a 4k 60Hz monitor so that resolution and frame rate. Wanting to play on the highest graphics - I've always had to run it near the lowest settings

            Thanks for your help!

            • @almotions: What do you currently play it on?

              • @zantaRay: an m1 macbook air (base specs), and I run it at the 2nd lowest preset settings (so not customising what each thing is). I get about 90 fps

                • @almotions: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/799001

This is not a bad option. The processor could be kicked up to a 5600 for an extra $88, which would give some extra frames. Dota 2 is pretty CPU bound though so probably worth it. Case isn't tiny but it's not super big either.

          • +1

@zantaRay: Just to add on to what you're saying re: DotA. It is notoriously badly optimised. You can have a 3k+ gaming rig, and yes, it will run at 144fps 1440p max settings for maybe the first 20-30 minutes depending on the heroes selected.

Once you get to 45mins or so in game, team fights will really start to dip your FPS. If for example there's an MK in game with Aghs, all bets are off. I had a 1 hour plus game with MK, and if you ever had him on your screen, FPS was dipping to around 30-40.

  • I am guessing the only weak point here might be the power supply? Assuming case has good air flow etc.

    • +2

If Techfast doesn't tell you what PSU you're getting (in the spec list) then you should assume you would be getting a cheap and cheerful one. Or Cheap / Not cheerful if it happens to be Aywun 750w with fake 80+ Bronze certifications.

There are lot of things you can skimp in a gaming build but the PSU is not one of them

The case is a 7/10 on XDA-Developers review, though personally I'd rate it a 6/10 due to mediocre cable management features.

      • +1

PSU: yes, TF's past-practices have come back to haunt them & they have took-risk/cheap-out with cheap-PSUs & hide this under the guise of 'having a pool of similar-part & hence not-knowing brand & model #'. May be factor a small-discount when TF don't list brand & model #, or wait for BPC to list equivalent deals with a detailed part-list. Also, may be this reflects little-margin in many-deals…monitor TF/BPC prices over a few months & see it for yourself.

Regarding 'mediocre cable management features': likely that TF will tidy it up.

  • +4

This 7500f Nebula deal is still available for a bit more than this, you just get a dual fan 4070 instead when entering the code according to the OP.

  • Really looking for a pc build recently
But Not sure about this 🤔

Desktop ver 40 especially 70 is kind of mess. Any custom option for gpu or non customized?
If not ,Rather downgrade to 4060 or pay the premium to 80.

  • Windows $169. Microsoft are theives. At the volumes they sell, it should be no more than $50.

Why do they have to make it so hard for the little guys? I would love to know how much Dell and Lenovo pay.

Tempted by the deal all the same.

    • +4

There are tons of ways to get it for free or very cheap. I havent done a fresh install in maaany years so I couldnt tell you the best current way but you absolutely do not have to pay the $169

      • +1

I'm sure there are ways to get it cheap or free and most of them would be risky, dodgy and/or illegal. By making the price of windows exorbitant, MS are encouraging many to take this less desirable pathway.

        Stick it to the man.

      • Which is probably why MS off-set the 'tons of ways to get it free' by keeping the higher price point. lol

I strongly advise against purchasing from Techfast. They use the lowest quality components, and their builds are a complete mess. It seems they are solely focused on making a profit rather than providing reliable products. They are an incredibly unreliable seller.

    • +2

Mate, your account only exists to throw shade on this seller. Are you a competitor?

      • No, I am a consumer. On the contrary, they manipulate reviews with bots. You can see they've technically collapsed my comments. I have email records from service, but I have nowhere to expose their despicable actions.

      • I assert that most people here, including me, don't know much about computers. It wasn't until after the purchase that I realized they are deceitful merchants. Yet they still manage to play God here and deceive people out of their money.

        • +1

A few times, you’ve been challenged to share these emails and you haven’t done so (as far as I’m aware)

    • Responding late, but it is a budget build. I have bought one PC from them for my son and it has been very reliable and trouble free.

  • -2

Im still holding out for a mid $1k intel build that can run Dota and Adobe apps comfortably.

I’ve had horrible experience with AMD in the past, not sure I can overcome the trauma lol

    • +2

Running AMD for a long time (3700X then 5900X). No issues.

  • Hey Luke! Any chance of a 4070ti build on a deal soon?

  • +2

    @Zondasss
Hmm, I had opposite experience. Ordered on 24th Aug, ready for pick up on 4th Sep.
Yes, some of the parts are "not premium", but that is part of the deal for lower prices.

They were friendly and helpful to work with. My only comment would be they can be a bit slow to respond, but are also very busy.
I was able to pick up, which saved the freight cost (and risk).

They also spent the time to open up the boxes and let me see everything I asked for was there, before I headed off.

    • Hi Zero,
I'm surprised that they were helpful and friendly to you. With me, they've been nothing but dishonest and rude. They refuse to acknowledge the losses caused by their incorrect descriptions, and this error continues to persist. I hope you can help me recover my losses.

  • Any USB C ports?

  • Is it difficult to install windows on this and notice no option for wifi so i would need to buy a wifi card and install it on linux?

    • There are millions of guides (both written and video) online that shows you how to Install Windows. The steps are very much the same for every machine.
      https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZsMdXlPIgYs
      https://www.wikihow.com/Install-Windows-10

      • Thanks looks simple but connecting to the internet if i buy a seperate wifi card would that be simple or have issues as i understand id be using linux initally

        • +3

The simplest way of getting your computer up and running in Windows is as follows

          1. Use your existing computer to create a bootable flash drive. For Win 11, go to https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows11 and download the Media Creation Tool. Use that tool to make yourself a bootable drive

          2. When your Techfast computer arrives, you'll need to use that drive to create a clean install of Windows. You don't need to interact with Linux at all — you simply format the drive (which gets rid of Linux), delete all the partitions that Linux previously created (until you have nothing but unallocated space) and then install windows in it's place.

          3. For Wifi, you can purchase any Wifi Adapter you'd like, in any form you'd like (Could be a PCIE card or a USB stick). Drivers should install automatically.

          • @scrimshaw: Pcie wifi card will not fit according to motherboard descriptions. Will probably need to be USB if you want wifi on this

        • If your gaming need a weak internet-connection only (say NOT shooting-games), buy & test-out a USB-wifi while gaming-> https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/284231856690

When TF don't list brand & model#, their Mobo is a basic with limited-space for network-card via 2nd PCIe connection: GPU likely to take most of the space & gets in the way of a wifi-card connection. Linked order site noted-> 'Does not feature on-board WiFi. A second PCIE device (e.g. network card, installed post-purchase) will not fit with RTX 3070 graphics cards and above.'

  • @luketechfast - Is it possible to place an order for this, with the deal, but receive it as parts instead? Looking to teach someone how to build their own machine and this value is wicked.

  • @luketechfast can you please advice which brand card is the 4070? Thanks
