50% off: Melrose MCT Oil Kick Start 500ml $14.39 (Was $28.95) + Shipping ($0 C&C) @ Chemist Warehouse

150

Alrighty then, great deal for those who love bulletproof coffees and overall good brain functioning, just like me!

My regular brand has gone up too much so I went looking around and spotted this on sale at Chemist warehouse. The C8 to C10 ratio is 60/40.
(Caprylic Acid (C8) is known to increase energy, boost ketone production, and assist in weight-loss. Capric Acid (C10) has similar actions to C8, though as it is a slightly longer chain, taking longer for the body to process it, sustaining the energy increase.)

Some claimed benefits as follows:

-Supports Weight Loss
In conjunction with a low carb or keto diet, MCT oil helps you feel fuller for longer and are a source of fuel which encourages your body to burn fat for fuel instead of glucose.

-Natural Energy
As MCTs are converted into ketones through the liver, they're an are an effective way to increase energy levels for the body and brain!

-Brain Function and Cognition
Ketones are an amazing fuel source for the brain. Meaning MCTs can be used to help give you mental clarity and focus!

-Assist Blood Sugar Regulation
MCTs increase production of insulin in response to glucose and improve insulin sensitivity, improving blood glucose levels and glucose metabolism.

-Win Internet Debates with Ease
With your boosted intellect no internet wannabe will be able to beat you in an argument.

Just a tablespoon a day in your coffee/tea or on your morning oats or lunchtime salad and you're good to go.

Not sure you're the product/brand spokesperson they are chasing :)

That will explain why my sponsorship deal fell through I guess?
      Good deal though.

  • does it kick you into keto faster than this?

Also oats with this wouldnt work with keto? oats are carbs? not debating just curious. ive never tried MCT oil and this deal might just make me.

    • You can do both if you like, butter and MCT oils. We did for a while but dropped the butter after a while for reasons unknown. As for the carbs thing then I guess it depends on what your goal is. If you are doing serious keto then that combination might not work for you. On my oats I add milk with some protein powder, some fruit, crushed seeds and a bit of MCT oil. :)

The Mrs just has some in her morning coffee and reckons she can notice a difference in her cognitive performance. Doing a search on 'benefits of MCT oil' will give you plenty to read. :)

    • Yes IIRC the MCT oil gets processed quickly in the Liver to produce keytones which hasten the fat burning process

The brain can use keytones for energy instead of glucose which explains the cognitive difference

      • That doesn’t necessarily mean you are in ketosis though. It takes time to adapt to fat. MCT oil is fast because the liver just uses it, you can be on MCT all day and still not fat-adapted/in ketosis. Bicarb helps neutralise the acidity, egg/avocado fast helps, but then you might need to deal with increased histamine. It’s not a race.

  • Same price on Amazon but dispatched in 2-5 weeks.

    • They must be price matching I guess. My local CW had it in stock for click and collect.

  • If coffee reduces absorption of minerals into your body why would you put this into it? Makes no sense one bit

    • +1

      Lipids are not minerals..?

      • +1

        what about mineral oil? /jk

        • mineral oil’s best taken on oats, no less than fifteen minutes after coffee

  • Yay, might finally give this one a try on Ian Crossland's advice, thanks OP!

  • For those wondering what happened to all the palm oil the Greenies were eschewing.

I wonder how this compare price and energy wise with a bounty bar.

only…this product is made from coconut oil

      • Nice to know, palm oil is the commonest source.

I'm always a bit wary of natural products that have been "improved", however a tablespoon of coconut oil in coffee might not be as palatable a regime.

If taken before fish oil OTOH it may offer the best of both products and mitigate the taste.

  • do not recommend this on an empty stomach, i need to have my coffee after breakfast. I stick to 1 tablespoon as well not 2 due to same issue as consuming on an empty stomach

    • Curious, why not?

      • +1

it starts at 7:30am with the coffee moves to stomach cramping around lunch time (a little earlier) followed shortly by some mass explosions in the toilet shortly after

        • Bummer. Never had any problems here.

          • @EightImmortals: it's ok if i keep to about 1 table spoon and eat breakfast prior

    • Do you react the same way towards coconut oil? I wonder if it’s one specific type of chain your body can’t handle.

  • Been using for ages, can recommend

I went on a medically surpervised Keto diet (not via following some Instatwat living in Byron) and this was recommended

  • what is bulletproof coffees?

    • fresh brewed hot coffee + MCT oil + grass fed butter + whisked together in a blender

      • what does "bulletproof" mean here?

        • it means teeth achingly fashionable nutritional trend
