How does this compare to the normal hdmi cables

    • Functionally 0 difference from what I've read, Fiber Optic is better if you need >30ft away, but other than that they're basically identical. This one being HDMI 2.1 is still pretty nice though. (Seems like they're one directional cables though)

        How does affect e-Arc?

Fibre optic cables are thinner and more flexible (but be aware of the minimum bending radius). You can also get much longer lengths that work reliably compared to normal copper cables. The downside is that the plugs on both ends contain electronics which could fail, which is something you'd want to keep in mind if you're running it behind a wall or ceiling.

  • damn i need 10m

    • ahhhh dyor

      • They 10M, 15M, 20M all with 25% discount but 5M have the most discounted with the lightning deal.

        • definitely.

but $39 for 10m, i'm pretty sure is a historical low on this website.

          • @Carrian: FWIW I paid $25.75 each for two of these 10m HDMI fibre optic cables on 30 July this year.

            • @eug: very nice, that's cheap af. how are they holding up?

              • +1

                @Carrian: No problems so far!

  • OOS

    • Other length still available.

      • 25% coupon all gone now.

  • If its one-directional, I can't see how it could work properly and comply with the HDMI standard. For example, HDMI requires the PC to know what's at the other end of the cable, and to know what resolutions it supports. Of course fibre optic in one direction would work if there was a lower speed electrical wire handling the return signal.

    • It's not just a pure fibre optic cable, there are copper wires running alongside it to handle negotiation and power. Only the high speed link is over fibre.

      • Are you saying that hdmi standard plug and socket had provision for fiber optics?

        • I never mentioned HDMI standards.

That said, the HDMI standard does have provisions for active cables, which this would fall under. Not every manufacturer will pay for HDMI certification though.
