Queen Bed Base

So I've just bought a decent mattress and looking for a bed base for it, looking for something that can get the best out of my mattress . Aesthetic's wise just want something simple and plain.

Are there any differences in these two types of bases in terms of comfort or what would be the most comfortable base to buy?

IKEA bed base only designed to fit IKEA Mattresses (which are slightly shorter and narrower).
    From IKEA Website:
    Mattress length: 202 cm
    Mattress width: 152 cm
    From Sealy Website:
Queen mattress is 1525mm wide and 2030mm long.

    • They also have those wacky slats which I don't think are good for latex mattresses.

      • Lifesaver, I'm using a Dunlopillo mattress which has latex in it. What slats are designed for latex?

        • I'm not an expert but I believe for latex mattresses you want flat slats where IKEA only has those curved ones.

      • Then why do IKEA sell the slat beds with those mattresses in mind?
        (as a combo)

  • I'm pretty sure the ikea will fit mattresses that are 1cm longer and a whole 5mm wider…its not a precision instrument

for OP - hate to be that person but you can easily find bed frames on FB marketplace. Otherwise there are many options for around $250- $350, Kogan, Bunnings even, Temple and Webster. They are all much of a muchness, the main thing is not to put a lot of weight on one slat eg standing on it or resting the edge of the mattress on it. Or jumping on the bed. If you want to do that, need more than a pine base (aka looking at a lot more cost).

  • milk crates and zip ties.

  • The Ikea one has sprung slats, the other two have solid slats.

In theory sprung slats are better, but in the el cheapo version of them in the only sprung slat frame I've had I didn't like it.
