Hi Guys
My lil bro need to get an eye examination, hasn't done one for 5 years. He's an international student(no medicare card). Called up Specsaver and quoted me $79. Any idea where he can get one at cheaper price? Cheers

Thanks Neil, last week when I called Medibank private they kept telling me NO, it's not covered. I tried again this morning and was told they would cover 85% of the costs. All good now, Thanks
What is covered by OSHC?
OSHC covers treatment by a doctor, either in a public hospital or in a doctor's surgery. It also covers pathology and radiology services (x-rays and blood tests), eyesight testing performed by an optometrist, transport by ambulance to a hospital in an emergency, and a limited amount towards the cost of prescription medication.
Mod: Removed inappropriate suggestion.
Medibank private's website doesn't show eye testing as part of the cover and when I called last week they insisted NO. After more than half an hour on the phone with them, they told me it's actually covered but only upto $59. All good now,Cheers
Yes, They would need to match whatever is covered by Medicare - thats required in terms of the DIAC's rules on overseas cover.
International students are required to have private healthcare cover to study here. Check with his insurance as he may be covered under that.
