  • I'm going for 5 nights at a similar time to you and I booked the Pullman Maldives all inclusive resort for about $6.3k for 2 people via luxury escapes. Mind you I booked probably 6 months ago.

Maybe do a check for all inclusive resorts on luxury escapes as I found Expedia/Agoda etc. to be more expensive once you added the airport transfers and other inclusions.

    • Thank you.

  • Enjoy the humidity in November. Make sure you have a pool.

Pretty sure there is an ocean nearby…

    No special occasion

Just pretend, you might get free stuff

    • Oh….I didn’t know that. Thank you.

  • Unless you stay close to Malé you're going to spend a fair chunk of time or $$$ getting to an island resort.

  • Good to watch if you want to consider alternatives to resorts:

  • The Residence Maldives at Falhumaafushi

  • We're planning for 4 nights in December and are considering the Centara Ras Fushi.
    Still undecided.
    There's just so many options.

  • Why are you going in monsoon season?

  • 4 days each? Youbwill be only scratching the surface in Sri Lanka and for the Maldives, takes about a week before you are fully immersed and relaxed.

Been 4x to Maldives, the last two times 2019 and 2022 at the Waldorf Astoria where we spent 18 nights combined, and before that 10 nights at the Conrad Maldives in 2016.

Beautifully expensive and the villas are equally sensational, but what blows my mind is being able to go bare feet the moment after you check in and not wearing any form of shoes for like 10 days…. its such a great feeling

    • Definitely loving the bare feet 24/7 at the Conrad even at restaurants when i went. Thought the people at WA was a little less "relaxed" and were actually wearing shoes to dine?

      • True, more guests, probably most actually, at the WA wore shoes but I'm on vacation and I run my own Maldives style. I guess the WA didn't really make it feel you could go barefeet (where the Conrad was designed almost for that) but to get the real Maldivian experience IMO requires going barefeet for prolonged periods ;)

        • That's the way!

Stayed at Hilton Amingiri (very pricy, but good).

Recommendations: go to a local island, stay at a basic guesthouse, and experience real life, with phenomenal scuba / snorkeling for a fraction of the resort pricing.

  • sleep on beach and eat local :-)

    • Not really an option in Maldives unless you stay on a local island where alcohol and bikinis are banned which is the entire reason I'd be going.

  • We stayed at Meeru, but that was over 10 years ago, would love to go back though.

Mate, the moment you are out of Male airport ( shack) you will be either on a boat or seaplane. Male Island has nothing to offer other than small shanty houses and a couple of towers. Currently, China is building its new airport building.

You have to understand that resorts spend and bring everything to you from overseas from fresh water to food and generate electricity by diesel generator and staff to serve you so kindly keep A$ 1K per night for all-inclusive. there is nothing to see around like Srilanka just water around you and experience island lifestyle.

Each resort has its own signature activities or lifestyle, based on your age and income you decide which resort you want to go for.

Kindly ensure that you take a full board package and not half board or Breakfast only, because you have no place to go anywhere to eat except their restaurant which is not so cheap since they need to bring food from overseas and whole island pricing is in USD.

If you are tight on budget then please don't go as it's not the place for you to travel and I would recommend you to either go to Phuket or Bali and get similar experience.

  • We stayed last year on one of the bigger local islands Maafushi for 3 nights in Feb. Accommodation was only $150 aud a night and was booked last minute but this wasn't your watervilla resort. Would highly recommend Maafushi or perhaps you could split up your trip so you stay on local island and couple of nights in an expensive water bungalow.

Water activities in maafushi were also significantly cheaper and night life was great - always something happening. You'll miss the night life and the local culture at a resort. I found the locals very friendly and engaging, a world apart from Sydney where I find most people are angry.. Maafushi is relatively closer to male and speed boat from Male airport was only $20 usd per person and you get there in an hour.

  • Coco Bodu Hithi - check Booking.com, got a good for Maldives rate with them.

We were there im April in an over water bungalow with prviate pool. Well worth the extra money.

Its a speedboat ride from Male which is heaps better than flying cost wise. ($150 usd) bur far enough that you feel far away. Boat leaves from the airport. There is nothing to see in Male. Food was good, staff was friendly.

House reef was great, saw many things there sharks, turtles, rays etc etc.

All inclusive is not worth it IMO. Unless you can drink heaps, and I mean heaps. Go with the half board. We ate heaps for dinner and breakfast at the buffets and usually split a pizza for lunch. Food was really good quality.
