In anticipation for spring, we are running a one week deal - 30% off on all of our Loose Leaf Teas until 10 September.

The only line which the discount code does not apply to is the Hibiscus Lush Blend. For this, we are offering 50% off - automatically applied in cart. This is a great blend with hibiscus petals and lemongrass, makes a great cup of iced tea.

Not sure is the hibiscus lush discount is working if you bundle with other teas?

    • Thanks for flagging this, is it fixed now?

      • It's still not bundling the items in the cart with discounts on both lines.

        • My apologies! I have tried again to fix this. Does it work now?

      • No, I'd tried before but it didn't work. made an order with some dragon pearls, etc, but sadly skipped the hibiscus

  • Looking for just Hibiscus tea leafs…looks like you only do blends? Any data on how much of what is in the blend?

    • Sorry, we just have the Hibiscus blend at this stage. I don't have any formal data, but I would estimate that its about 30-40% hibiscus in the blend?

  • How is this different than the 900 grams pack of Red Label or Taj tea in woolies Indian aisle for 10 bucks?

      Great question.

Red Label and Taj tea is good, but is made at a very different grade. The teas are usually machine harvested and processed into small balls with machines. This is called the cut-twist-curl ('CTC') method. The benefit is that it makes the teas quite affordable. However, this process means that the tea leaves are heavily oxidised and can be bitter. The oxidation and harsh processing style means that the tea does not have the full flavour profile when brewed and tastes different. In India, this kind of tea is usually mixed with spices, sugar/molasses and milk to make Chai. Our Masala Chai uses CTC tea similar to Red Label and Taj. However, the benefit is that it is pre-blended with a range of different spices.

However, our other loose leaf teas are hand-picked and at a high grade. For example, our Assam Black Tea has been inspected by a tea grader and is graded TGFOP. This is one of the highest grades of teas. This involves only picking the top-most parts of the tea plant which have the best flavour. Tea pickers are trained to only use the padding of their fingers when picking tea (and not their nails) so as to avoid damage and oxidation. When brewed as black tea, it tastes amazing! There is a very noticeable taste difference; you get flavours which you would have tasted in tea before. High grade loose leaf teas allow you to enjoy the different flavour profiles of each tea. Flavours can change between seasons, garden and harvest time.
