Got Bunnings in VIC to Price Beat this deal and my final price was 1511.10.

This seems like a decent 4k cam with no subscription fees and thought this will be useful for anyone out for a 4k security camera setup.

  • What's the difference between a 720p masked burglar and a 4k burglar?

    • The folds in the fabric are clearer on 4K.
Wait til we get Atmos capable cams. Sneaky footsteps in surround hi-def. drools

Jokes aside: I’d imagine you can zoom in a bit more on higher rez which can be useful for license plates etc.

      • Only if the burgler is standing still. If they're moving, you might find that 720p will be clearer, especially in low light.
It's important to define your use case - day v night, shadows, other illumination, distance to what you're recording, angle (tops of heads tend to look the same regardless of masks), …

    • I had a situation where zooming in on the sneakers of intruder helped to identify specific and uncommon style of branding on his shoe. His face was not masked, but also not clear because he was side-on. Having the extra detail of his clothing was appreciated when supplying the footage to cops.

  • Fyi, paid $1,345.15 delivered recently for the same through recent Bing Lee deal

Been happy with the cameras though !

If you're dropping that sort of coin surely you can pay a sparky to wire some real cameras?

    • +1

Proper real cameras with proper real NVR from a decent brand will set you back around 3.5K

    • +1

      This is a proper camera

Why pay sparky when you can DIY

      • The recordings on these battery powered cameras leave a lot to the desired… if someone ran past it.. it captures nothing

        • +1

If you're worried about sprinting intruders, there's ways to help with that. For example, if your house has 4 cameras on each external wall, you can use the automation feature to trigger ALL cameras to start recording if one is motion-triggered. Or if you have one camera, and 3 motion sensors placed strategically around your property, you can again make sure your camera starts recording when any of the motion sensors trigger.

        • This has solar powered backup, reviews been very positive that users are no longer need to charge the cameras

Is there a simple single camera (wired or battery powered) working with only SD card without needing internet, WIFI, phone?

    • Do you mean never uses WIFI, not even for setup? I doubt there is any camera that won't at least need internet and phone app for setting up.

Keep in mind that some Eufy cameras such as the "solo" range, have internal on-camera storage and will continue recording even if your wi-fi is down.

But if you really want an SD card option, they have the indoor pan-tilt cam. Couple of other models have SD card. But honestly, SD card is a point of failure. There's a reason the newer models have replaced SD card with internal memory - more reliable, faster.

      • Just camera with SD card. plug in power or battery, record select hours, turn it off, take it out plug into computer and watch, that's it. I don't want WIFI, internet, phone, cloud, remote tracking. I mean just a simple single smaller cheap version of CCTV camera without computer screen connection. So far I could not find any, probably non exits such a thing.

        • probably non exits such a thing.

Of course they exist. You're talking about a dashcam. If you can sort power, the camera will record continuously to the SD card as soon as you power on.

          plug into computer and watch

Watch hours of 24/7 video? Fun times. You're better off using motion detection to record only events worth recording, to save power and your sanity.

A trail cam might suit your needs if you want cheap battery cam. Trail cams have come a long way since their rough start. You can continuously record 3 minute 4K clips, minimum 5 seconds apart on a camera such as this trail cam, brilliant little camera for $300. All up this cam has 4 sources of power: Internal lithium rechargeable, 4 x AA, solar panel, and USB port.

          • @cerealJay: Thanks mate. I meant taking SD card out and insert it into computer, I don't need live or constant recording and watching video 24/7. I need it for 30-60 mins once or twice a week. I think dash camera is good for my purpose as seen utube videos in which some really cheap dash cameras used for home security.

Please look into Eufy’s official store on ebay USA. I got this for approx $1k.
Was delivered just last week. Yet to install.

    • Link? How much was shipping?

    • +1

      Same. $1138 delivered.

    • How? Its USD$799 + $50 shipping from ebay usa

    • +1

      Subtotal (1 item) $799.99
      Shipping $47.08
      Discount -$120.00
      GST $76.11
      Duties $34.00
      Order total
      $837.18

That's AUD1298.25, still good discount. Will be terrible from a warranty point of view. I already had to take my eufy cam 2 for warranty, thankfully bought through brick and Mortar store otherwise they would have asked me to ship back to Asia as they don't have warranty locations in Australia (unless this has changed in last 2 years)

  • These are crap, run on their own wifi network between the home base and the cameras, which is so weak so notifications and recordings are extremely delayed. And my house is tiny, on a half block

    • What would you recommend?

    • Where did you situate the homebase?

      • MIddle of my house on the same ground floor level

    • +1

You need to upgrade your wifi to strengthen the coverage. I'm using Mesh and have no problem with notification which is usually 1-3 sec delay only.

      • Wifi between the cameras and the homebase has nothing to do with your home router thus cannot be upgraded

    • +1

You are doing something seriously wrong.

I have a set of these around the outside of my 320m² single story house (ie. a large house), and I get the notifications from my driveway and front cameras before the visitor reaches the front door to press the doorbell - it takes about 1-3 seconds usually.

Perhaps your WiFi and/or Mobile signal link is poor which delays the notification between the Eufy base station and your phone (which has nothing to do with the Eufy camera system) ?

    • +1

As others have commented, I also haven't had any connectivity or WiFi issues with my setup (using a Mesh network), all cameras have full WiFi signal over single story ~300m² home, ~1-3 second delay of notifications on my phone.

      • I can see the wifi signal on the camera is bad when I overview all my Eufy cameras in the app. My block is only 12m wide and by the time the camera at the front of my house starts recording they are more than halfway past (if walking along the street adjacent to my house)

  • Recordings seen to be delayed on Eufy wireless and Google wireless cameras from my experience. I've gone from Eufy to Google Nest and now getting hard wired cams installed. Just too much compromise in quality and features with the wireless two options I've tried so far.
Just my opinion from my real-world experience

    • Which brand and cameras are you using now?

    • +1

It's the problem with your wifi coverage. Mine take 1-3 sec delay only

    • +1

What wifi access points do you use to connect them? I’m interested in getting these and use 4 Ubiquiti APs in the house and have great coverage so wonder if it’s the cameras or your APs

  • Hoping this is around 1k mark 😂
