Two months after the pre-order deal, it's back discounted. 19% this time rather than 20% but there are now more reviews available for this unit.
Pricing for those without Education Store access is $2,299 so also discounted in the normal store.

Based on what I’ve read of others’ experiences with replacements, the burn-in warranty means you may end up with a refurbished display that may have other issues. Some people have received displays with dust inside the screen, scratches on the screen etc, and have had to go without their monitor for weeks at a time.
I’m not saying the burn-in policy isn’t a good thing, but the reality of using it may not align with expectations.
Refresh rate (240Hz) and technology (QD-OLED) in title helps a lot for people unfamiliar with the specific product trying to research options.
I got this one and I am returning it after only a few days of using it. Unless you are using it purely for gaming I would stay away from it.
Pros
- The colors are vivid and is incredible, as you would expect from a Samsung Oled.
- Design, refresh rate etc. all very impressive
Con
- The way it renders text is horrible, it is due to the shape of the Oled pixels. At a higher resolution you would not notice but it is very noticeable in this one. There is a reddit post about this here (https://www.reddit.com/r/ultrawidemasterrace/comments/14kvgk…)
While it's true that the subpixel layout of QD-OLED isn't ideal on Windows, not everyone could perceive that, some are more sensitive than others. I for one am not bothered by it. I'm using the G8 OLED for gaming, software development, office use etc roughly 10h+ a day.
This con is something that you best see it in person to judge for yourself.
edit: also it's much less noticeable on dark backgrounds, if you enjoy using dark mode, then this is even less of a problem.
Curious to find out from you if their has been any signs of burn in?
No sign of burn-in yet. I bought it in Apr however so it's not even half a year of use. I'd be happy if I could get 3y of use without apparent, in-your-face burn-ins. I also use dark mode where possible, doesn't show desktop icon, blank screensaver 1 min, monitor sleep in 5m etc, brightness 20-40% most of the time. Sounds a bit excessive probably, but that's also how I setup most of my past monitors.
The settings for moving between HDR and SDR are also fiddly and counter-intuitive according to TFTCentral
Isn't that a toggle from windows? Win+Alt+B will toggle HDR mode, then 1-2s later the monitor will also switch HDR mode accordingly. Basically you can adjust pictures settings of the monitor separately between SDR and HDR.
Most settings can also be brought up quickly using voice controls with the remote too which isn't that bad.
You can now get it for $2074.85 on the education store via unidays, using the code GAMERDAYS
From what I understand Samsung does not have a burn-in warranty compare to Dell / Alienware or Corsair so for future buyers be aware of this before purchasing.
I was about to pull the trigger on the G8 OLED until I spoke to a Samsung Advisor and was told of this fact.
