I was on the market for a new paring knife and knife block and stumbled across this deal on Amazon. Saw it at Myer for $275 with 18% Cashrewards click and collect and thought it was a decent deal, but found it cheaper on Amazon. Will be replacing a set my 15 year old Mundial Bonza which has served me well.

RRP is $549. Appears to be an all time low on the camel menage a trois

Listed as an Amazon 'Deal' so not sure when it ends.

Price History at C CamelCamelCamel.

I had a set of Furi knives, and they're crazy soft and just not good at all. Better to go to your local Asian supermarket/shop and grab a couple of Kiwi knives.

55-57, so definitely on the soft side. Which is similar to globals (56-58) which are definitely plenty hard enough for most people and hold a good edge - makes sharpening them easier too.

Kiwi knives are definitely great to have around the kitchen, but they're also $5 a pop and not comparable.

Being $5 makes them vastly better value than these - if you're buying cheapo knives, don't this ridiculous amount for them.

Global are significantly better than Furi, irrespective of the Rockwell rating.

Oh. I thought I had said I recommended globals instead, as they're the same price.

I've used globals and kiwis plenty. They both cut food, but the globals are a lot more enjoyable and 'fun' to cook with.

Personally I would be buying harder knives but they're typically a lot more expensive.

Furi are bodgy. All kinds of marketing twonk on their site - not worth that type of coin.

  • Don't know how good the current Furis are, but I've had a set for 10 years and find them quite adequate. I did buy them at a Myer sale much cheaper than Global, my other choice.

  • I think these are good at this price point. Global's are twice the price of these, but not twice as good. Better, yes, but not twice as good. Nice post OP. We have a few Furi's and a few Globals, and enjoy using both.

  • Good deal, OP. Same as the other comments, they're not as great as other knives but pretty decent for their price. If someone wants these knives and doesn't need the chopping block or bread knife, I'd consider purchasing this deal instead: https://www.amazon.com.au/gp/product/B075MTXRXL/ref=ewc_pr_i…
