i think there is problem with Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 (4 nm)

      • +3

Snapdragon 888, 888+ and 8 Gen 1 have massive overheating and battery draining issues.

        Snapdragon 870, 8+ Gen 1 and 8 Gen 2 don't have those issues.

Can you really go past a pixel 6a for 339 though?

    • Ooooohhhh…
I still have my 4A that runs well, has most of the Photo features and gets security updates but tempting, so tempting…

      • +2

Not a heavy phone user but I'm keeping the 4a until it dies. Smaller, lighter, headphone jack and rear fingerprint.

  • As a heavy user (8-10 hours SOT a day) The 125W charger on the ultra is seriously one of those features that will be hard to ever give up.

  • +2

The ultra is tempting replacing my s21 ultra….

Just drop a bit more (~$529?) and I'll bite ;)

  • How is motorola still alive?

      • +10

Pretty sure it is a Lenovo company

        • Yeah, it's a subsidiary of Lenovo

      • Google Pixel is Google's phone company

    • +1

      because they make good phones?

      • I agree, cameras average but they do the job with a bit of effort. The rest of the hardware is ace for the price

  • Can some some share with me what code or coupon should I apply to get 20% off?

Is the ultra worth it over the neo? Basically just after a better camera.

    • -1

And better screen, more storage, more RAM, more battery, better CPU to name a few.

    loving my edge 30 neo
yes it came with 68w charger and a nice clear protector
    oppo sux

    • Does it have moto secure or secure folder? Thanks

  • This or samsung A14 currently on sale for same price ?

    • neo is better in every way except battery life but it can still last more than one day. E.g. it has an OLED 120Hz screen vs 90Hz LCD, better camera with OIS and a slightly better chip. It also has double the RAM of the A14 so is much more futureproof

No headphone jack and expandable storage is a deal breaker for me for the Neo.

    • It comes with USB-C headphones

      • But you see thats still q deal breaker as you cant charge the phone and listen to music or other audio at the same time.

        • I know, it's a pain. I also got a USB-C to 3.5mm headphone socket with additional USB-C in for $35 from Jaycar. Seems to work OK. But most people would find that a pain to carry around. I actually got mine for a different use case for another device where the headphone plug is hard to access with a case on.

I'm mostly finding that the battery life on the Motorola is great, if that helps, so the need to charge is minimised, plus it has fast charging, although I try to minimise using that to prolong battery capacity in the long term.

I use Android Auto in the car and for some reason the wireless (using Carlinkit from a previous deal) would drain the battery a lot in my previous LG V30 but not this.

The speakers on this phone are decent so in some cases you wouldn't need headphones.

On another level, every phone is heading this way and you'll have to deal with this problem sooner or later.

  • Bought Neo, have nubs question. The phone comes with zero battery charded level. Is it normal?
All my previous phone and tablets was arrived cgarged about 60%. Samsung's S21 and S8 tablet for example.
    Thanks

    • I've had that before, not common but I've had it before with a Pixel

    • not common as cashie said. Just make sure the battery lasts long enough and drains and charges properly, and if it doesn't, get it replaced soon.

      • +1

Thanks, good advice, will check it.

    • Mine came like that a week ago but seems to have a great battery life.

  • How good are Motorola with their Android updates? Do they release an update every month? How long do they support their phones for? 2 years worth of Android updates and then just security updates after that?

Also how good is their software? Is it fast and light like stock Android or is it heavily customised like Samsung phones?

  • Bought the ultra last week, pretty impressed

  • +1

Thanks. Bought the Ultra, hopefully its good :)

  • Thinking of pulling the trigger on either the Edge 30 Neo or Google Pixel 6a with this deal. Any thoughts about which one you'd prefer? Thanks :)

    • +1

      @PermaPalimpsest
pixel 6a is best for if updates are a priority. The Neo has 2 years of security left while the 6a has 3 years 8 months and more android version updates (should go up to 15 vs Neo currently at 13 and possibly could get 14).
      Apart from updates:

      • Screen: Neo is a smoother experience (120Hz vs 60Hz 6a) and bigger (6.28 v 6.1")
      • Processor: 6a is much more powerful as it uses the same flagship grade processor as the Pixel 6. However the Moto for the cheaper price is fine for most regular users, if you don't do anything demanding like gaming
      • Camera: Pixel is much better
      • Battery: while the 6a has more mAh, the Neo is more efficient and will last longer, possibly due to the flagship power processor pulling lots of energy. 68W charging of the Neo vs 18W on the 6a ensures that you can have a full 100% charged in less than an hour.

Preference: the Neo which is $60 less than the 6a (which is also OOS at Google Store so $100 more now) as it packs a lot of value at a price that there are no other competing phones with such specs.
