I'm hoping to replace my Fetch TV with Plex and the PVR function. All seems simple enough until I try to find a TV tuner.
Reading this —> https://support.plex.tv/articles/225877427-supported-dvr-tun… and then searching the Internet to purchase on of the Hauppauge USB tuners, it seems they're as rare as hen's teeth.
Anyone got the Plex PVR function up and running successfully in Oz recently?? Any pointers?

Not sure what you're trying to achieve, recording FTA? if so, just buy a Mecool KT1 and that will run plex as well as record FTA, run M3u8 files in VLC.

Thanks all… I've already got a mini pc running Plex, so don't want to go and get another device. To be honest, I thought USB TV tuners would be a dime-a-dozen, but I haven't looked into them for 15 or 20 years! hdhomerun would be nice, but again, as per my first post where can I buy one?
I'll probably end up importing a Hauppauge usb wintv thing from the UK… far out!

I haven't looked into for a few years, I'm running Emby with live tv on a htpc with a 4 tuner card, using ICEtv for guide data.
I think you may get free guide data with the homerun but don't quote me on that.
The xbox tuner for you looks promising.
What are you wanting to record? Just use the apps. It surely isn't movies (full of ads) or sport (just get Kayo)
It could be anything. We tend to record things and then start watching them late so we can skip the ads. It'll also allow me to break away from the TVs as I can't play from Fetch to my phone for example. Thanks everyone for your suggestions. I'll get an Xbox tv tuner, fire up Linux and see if I can get it working. Maybe an hdhomerun is on my horizon if I'm not having any luck??
Good luck, There's actually a lot more stuff on free to air than people realise. Especially SBS and ABC for series's. Even movies, pretty much all the old MI films have just been on. You can build quite a library. As above I use Emby but same functionality as plex, before traveling for work I download a few movies/shows and watch on the plane.
Hey mate. I have just a random brand tv tuner plugged into my Plex PC and was able to add it. Ignore all the hauppage/hdhomerun nonsense which is just Plex cross promoting.

I was able to add my tuner with this method with no problems at all. Buy a cheap $20-$30 one from your local shop of choice!
Xbox tv tuner was a fail. I'm now potentially looking at icetv USB tuner. Is it a rebranded hauppauge? Anyone know?

This seems to imply the icetv it haupage.
i use an old s905x android tv box running armbian and a PS3 Playtv box alongside tvheadend and TVH proxy. Works pretty well, i just havent figured out how to set up recordings via the Plex gui into Tvheadend.
