  • Great stuff, bought one two years ago for $88.86 and it still works perfectly. Good price, not sure how much of a bargain it is though. If I needed a second one, I'd definitely buy it.

These days it is surprising that something you bought two years ago still works?

    • How long battery last?

      • Seven

      • Yes.

      • Couple hours on max

  • Sure to blind a kangaroo or two.

Is that what this is used for?

    • So can also blind human?

  • Is it really any better than Wuben H1 which is $40 from Amazon?

    • +3

Personally I prefer the Sofirn HS40.

A postive for the Olight, is the wireless charging. A negative would be that Olight uses their own proprietary 21700 battery and charging cable.

      • I also got the Sofirn HS40 over the Perun2

      • That is mega retarded. Why would I want some random cable? Makes zero sense. Very retarded.

        • +2

if you're asking the pros, compared to usb-c charging:
it's more convenient; don't need to unscrew anything it just magnetically aligns
it's more waterproof; no chance of a flap coming undone and water getting into the port

          cons you already know

          • -1

@Bacons: That makes sense. Now we need to standardise magnetic rechargers. The government must intervene.

        • It's another cable/puck you have to carry to charge the Olight Perun when you're out. Not to mention the cost of replacing a proprietary cable that only Olight sells.

Personally I would prefer USB-C charging port to charge the headlamp, but that also introduces issues with waterproofing.

Edit: after reading your comment again, I realised you were agreeing with me 😅

@RichardL: Yes, we are two peas in the same pod. You are very smart and very handsome, I assume since you have functioning frontal cortex you will also be voting No at the referendum with me!

          • @RichardL: And a proprietary battery - only available through o light. Not a light to travel with.

      • I agree, have 2 HS40 - new one and old one. Fantastic product.

  • Just another hyped up product. Not much of a difference compared to a $20 cheap AliExpress brand.

    • +1

      do you own one?

      • +4

People who usually say these things do not own both the product advertised and the cheap knockoff.

        • +1

Agreed, too many people posted on ozbargin said this was rubbish that was rubbish but they have never used it.

@Brakus I shared the feedback so community will benefit from it. You can take it or leave it. If you have a different opinion share it.

But you don't have enough information about anyone here to casually make a prejudiced statement like this.

          • +2

@BargainBuddy: Just a suggestion. If you want to leave a feedback that will benefit the community, make it constructive with specific details. A two liner does not help

          • +2

@BargainBuddy: your feedback was not helpful because 1. you did not elaborate on why you had that opinion and 2. your source was "trust me bro".

          • @BargainBuddy:

I shared the feedback so community

Feedback have to base on if you have tried or owned it and compared it with Aliexpress cheap brand.

      • Yes I did.

It's Amazon. If you want grab one and try it.

  • A sheep or two a k-kangaroo
    A clothesline out the back
    Verandah out the front
    And and old rocking chair

Yeah, proprietary charging cable and ~$80 price tag kills this for me. The Sofirn and Wuben with USB charging are cheaper and, personally, there's no way I need any more light than what they give out.
I haven't even checked the specs to see which are brighter, just saying - I do a lot of camping, fishing, hiking. There's no way that the Wubens or Sofirns I have need any improvement light-wise.

  • I think nitecore make the best headlamps for camping and general use tbh

Why are most of you so Grumpy and fed up with life. One smart arse comment after another. LMAF

People can’t seem to understand that there are good quality products that can ALSO have cons. I’m all for posting alternatives but there seems to be an overwhelming amount of, “Pfft, no” comments from people who probably haven’t used the product but they want the updoots.

I’m waiting to see a post with a screwdriver for sale and people commenting how they glued a 5c coin to a stick and somehow those are comparable quality

      Laughing; my ass farting?

  • Can vouch for olight products. Though when I want a handfree experience I put my baton 3 mini (I think, it's a smaller one with a clip) on the front of a cap. Clip is strong enough that it doesn't move.

  • I have to say that in general Olight (Magicshine) is the brand that is heading in the right direction: nice design (sleek, compact designs, good brightness, good batteries), interesting features (some proximity sensors, smart axelerometres in bike lights), good customer support (working warranty). Sure, hardcore Chinese brands like Convoy, Wuben etc offer better value. I do not think that A brands like led lenser or Zebralight offer anything beyond what Olight (Magicshine) has to offer. So, overall, for me, great value on the higher end side.
Their bike rear dash cam is great value as well.
