XM4's are also three years old, still a great set of cans.
A nice Thai meal would be a better purchase than these. Never skimp on your eyes (glasses/screens), ears (headphones/earphones), feet (shoes/socks), or back (bedding/mattress).
With the recommendation of a nice Thai meal I don't think you're skimping on your nose (scent) either

I've got the noise cancelling version, and really like the sound quality.
Not so happy with the touch button though, accidentally toggles noise cancelling / ambient sound easily and his play when they're in my pocket.
same, hate touch controls on earbuds. My fat fingers always toggling something or it's just a flawed design.
These are not great. But they're $29, which is probably half of what I would've paid for similar quality. Makes for a great present for someone you're indifferrent about.
