I have been on the hunt for another air purifier in preparation for summer and for my larger living area and this one is meant to be good for up to 70m2. Was originally going to get a second Xiaomi 3H but couldn’t seem to find any for a good price.
I was also able to ask for a better price with JB Deal and got it down to $229!

Not really. Your ducting system may have a filter to trap large dust particles but they do not use hepa, which would create significant air pressure/resistance and most likely burn out the motor.
Thanks. Makes sense. I had a thick filter on the intake vent when installed but has to change it to something thinner because it sounded like a wind tunnel.

Some systems allow temporary hepa installation but they are generally built for that type of pressure drop. Most ducts use around merv 7 filters, which are rated at 50% trapping ability for particles 0.3μm - 10μm in diameter; vs HEPA filters, which are rated to trap > 99.97%
These are the same ones that got installed into all SA schools during the pandemic. Certainly can take a beating.

Ive been breathing the atmosphere for 52 years, 35 of them also with smoke (quit several years back), and im still here and double timing it alongside busy roads getting my exercise now…still here….. I dont get home and obsess over a bit of dust, but thats just me….

Been thinking about getting something like this. But I believe if you've got ducted air, that'll do the same thing? Filter any smoke particles?
