I haven’t used the Lite, but I have the Fire Stick TV HD which is the model up for $39. It works though is slow in response so a little annoying to use.
The Fire Stick 4K and the Cube are much snappier. I’d go for one of those. JB had the 4K for $59 yesterday.
I feel as though the 'regular' price for the 4k is $49 (currently on amazon) and bargain price is $70 for 2.

Yeah, don't get the lite. You think you don't need the volume function until you realise that the app also can't control volume (even with the 4k one for me) so you need to have your normal remote.
I've got the standard version and the volume increments are 7 on my soundbar which is annoying. Tried all the settings but no luck.

Have this. If making a dumb tv smart and don’t need 4K, this is a good option as OP suggested.
Only drawback I see is that the remote doesn’t have volume control. Mine is attached to a projector and Bluetooth speaker. So in order to reduce volume, I’ve got to use the speaker remote. Would rather spend 10$ more and get the next version for $39.
