Apple iPod Touch 8GB for $177 at OfficeWorks in Store or Online (Free Shipping)

90

Available on both their online store (with what should be free delivery. Worked for all random postcodes I tried) or their physical stores.

Could make for a nice gift for a birthday or later on for Christmas; especially for kids (considering the relatively low storage space).

Catalogue hasn't mentioned anything about whether this deal expires at a given date. Seems to be on a "While stocks last" basis.

  • is that cheap? what's the normal price?

    • good question.

now all we need is a good answer.

A lot of other stores (Target, BigW, Dick Smiths come to mind) sell it for ~$198, so it's a $20 saving. Not sure what OfficeWorks had it priced as before, but I'd expect it'd be similar to the other big retailers; especially considering how Apple likes to have everyone price their stuff equally as far as regular pricings go.

iPod touch deals are all over Ozbargain, so i thought you would have figured out by now…

It doesn't hurt to post it in the description so we don't have to go searching through other threads…

    • i got my iPod touch 8GB last Christmas for 164 from HN.

  • I got mine for $200 last year at HN.

  • Wait until Thursday.

    • +6

After the next G is revealed tomorrow (12/9), we can expect prices for the current model to fall more heavily than on previous occasions. Stiff competition from Samsung has made Apple's pricing for the existing iPod Touch seemed ridiculously out of touch with market conditions. Rumours are abound that the new model will have: a taller 4" display, a 5Mp rear camera, doubled RAM capacity, a faster CPU, and possibly lower launch price points.

Yep, that why I said wait until Thursday (3am to be precise) :) Although there is also the rumoured iPad mini event which might be due next month. Therefore Apple might decide to put the iPod refresh at that time instead. But typically iPods get refreshed in September.

Either way, its a bad time to buy a iPod touch, since its a 2 year old hardware, and a refresh is immanent.

If we keep waiting, nothing gets purchased and then the manufacturers have no money to make new stock and in turn the economy crashes. Worst case scenario of course.

        • +2

Somehow, I don't think that difficulty has been one Apple has had to face.

        • +2

Apple aren't going to go broke any time soon. They aren't also suggesting to never buy an Apple product, they're only telling people to wait a couple of days.

        • umm I wasn't serious.

          4th gen 16 gb is now 220, so 177 for a 8gb ain't too bad

          http://www.apple.com/au/ipod-touch/

          5th gen starts with 32gb at 320.

Was $169 at OW/DSE during April and $164 at JB/OW/HN late last year. Best non-standalone price has been $178 from The Good Guys ($30 iTunes gift card / Logitech Bluetooth Mini Boombox (via redemption) in June / August, respectively).

  • Very cheap currently. Could see no others for a better price.

  • +2

Actually I'd avoid the 8GB if possible as the 32GB, that's 4x is about another $100. 8GB will not hold enough games, videos, even songs!

    • without single song/video my iPod touch 8GB is full with apps… guess even 64GB will not be enough :)

  • i wouldn't be surprised if Apple announces new iPod Touches together with the new iPhones…

  • It's been this price for to long, awaiting the new version. My Sony Ericsson mp3 finally decided to play up.

    • your wait is over…
