Where's the report option for "I'm in this and I don't like it"

    • +1

Not even, its just Monday and Tuesdays, Wednesday starts dying off. The rest of the week its cruisy. Rinse and repeat :)

  • +2

That's an awesome price, must be competing with Planet Fitness' $5/week plans.

    I paid 213 + 79 in July.

Business might be bad if they're trying so hard. Making me a bit wary tbh… giving me Dick Smith vibes again.

    • +1

they're probably just pooling some cash since they opened 3 new gyms.
I hope their business is doing ok. I hate other gyms in terms of quantity, quality, and price.

    • All business during recessions just have to survive. Then it will boom again.

    • I used to work for Dick Smith still struggling to get a good job mate.🥲

    • Will they offer a compensation if you ask?

    • Gym might be the kind of thing easy to oversell. If everyone with a membership showed up it would be chaos.

  • I thought every gym charged around $25 / week… What's a good price for a gym nowadays?

  • I went the closest one last year and it's always full after 5pm. Passing by on weekend nights, it seems the same situation.

Your location might have better luck!

    $79 admin fee?

    • +4

      Admin fee is a con

      • +3

just train your brain to blank out the "admin fee" and think of it as inclusive to the $278 admission price.

FYI they changed to close at 10 pm, not sure if different between locations

Been going for 6 months and been pretty content, tidy enough and even though it can get fairly busy at peak as long as you're a bit flexible with which machines you need theres usually enough equipment to get your workout done quickly (i go to one of their smaller sites)

    • which site

      • +1

        Frankston.

        • @FR3D99 Wannabe powerlifter here, not far from Frankston. Are the squat racks and bench presses all taken during peak times?

          • +1

@gav23: Its tough to measure but for the most part I think usually you'll be fine, there are 3 squat racks, 2 barbell benches and 4 normal benches so there's enough to go around, especially if you're fine with smith machine variations/hack squats and dumbbell press, respectively.

  • Oh dude same I paid the 299+59 too thought it was a good deal but God dang

199 is lit for 13 months

Any one know where in OAKLEIGH a new gym to be opened and when

Woo my only post from 8 years ago lives on. Still swole.

  • Sad only 1 in Brisbane

Should change their name to Sardines

  • Membership runs out on the 31st, they always do this.

The extra month tho, actually puts you in September where they may not run sales.

    Last year I paid $300 + 49 admin fee.

  • The main sales are EOFY and Xmas time, so if you get it around then, at least you know you will get it on sale for resigning next year.
These other fill in sales, although lately have been quite often, run the risk of having to pay full price next year or wait till another sale.
Another good thing is they are letting you top up membership, for a few years they stopped that.

Another option: build a home gym

A decent one will cost about 10 years of annual gym membership…but at least you don't have to drive, wait or share the equipment. And you can sell stuff on if you no longer need it and get most of it back. Not suitable for everyone who needs the motivation of going out but works well for me and the wife.

Though the gyms are large, they do get PACKED.

I'd recommend if you are interested to do a walk-about inside at two different times that you'd likely go. They'll be happy to allow non-members to do a quick check-in.

  • Thanks OP, i bought it on impulse…. the morning after i got regrets of wasting $199 + $79 that i was never gonna use.. So i went down to the gym and signed up… i've been going 5 times a week for the past 3 weeks. I hope i can keep it up, i love going, i look forward to it.
On the Gym wall it says " REMEMBER WHY YOU STARTED"
i say to get my Ozbargins moneys worth… that pushes me.

    cheers
