Looks like Lenovo broke their shopping cart again.

For a limited time, you can get a fully spec'd Yoga Pro 9i for the price of the base model. For every upgrade I selected, the discount got bigger but the base price stayed the same, just don't touch the Microsoft Productivity software options.

ThanksDad!

Did anyone get these yet from the previous deals (14" or 16")? If so, how are people finding them?

    • +2

I do procurement for my company. Was randomly browsing the site to find some units for pricing to bring to our company's Lenovo rep for a quote & stumbled across this

      • +1

Oh I meant how are people's experiences with the laptop!

        • +1

Not sure if you're referring to the Pro specifically, but I bought the 14" 7i AMD with 90Hz OLED display last week; it's been great so far.

I have the 14" Pro 7 with the 7735HS and no dGPU, which shares the same chassis and design as the 14 Pro 9. It's all aluminium and well built, pretty close to Apple level. The trackpad is large and feels great, and the keyboard is so much better than most laptops these days, with a nice layout (barring the half height arrow keys), good actuation feel and 1.5mm travel. Battery life is good, I haven't done any tests but 8+ hours of regular use definitely seems achievable.

Mine will boost up to 60W TDP, but get pretty loud and starts hitting 95-100 Celsius after sustained loads at 50-60w. Presumably the 16" model will do a bit better, and maybe the 9i has an upgraded cooler design, but I don't think there's any way it could sustain a 100W GPU and a 100W+ CPU at anywhere near their max power envelopes. Still, them's the breaks for a portable design. Bit of a shame there's no Pro 9 with more efficient AMD silicon.

  • Looks like Lenovo broke their shopping cart again.

    holy crap lois

even applies to adding touch screen and Win 11 Pro

    • +2

Shhh they might fix it lol.

  • -1

    4060 not gonna cut it

    • -1

It will for older games :-)

      • -2

Much happier with my HP 3080ti :D

Plus the lenovo screen is even higher res at 3200 x 2000 - games are going to run really poorly on it with a 4060 unless you really turn down the details

But the Lenovo is a thinner, lighter laptop so it has that going for it.

    • +1

It's not a gaming laptop. This is more for productivity, photo editing etc

    • +2

Not really meant for gaming in the first place. More of a "creator/creative" laptop.

    • 2 option while building RTX 4050 and RTX 4060

  • Is this a signal M.2 slot?

    • +3

      Storage Slot
      Two M.2 slots
      • One M.2 2280 PCIe® 3.0 x4 slot
      • One M.2 2280 PCIe 4.0 x4 slot

      • Perfect, thanks so much, was looking for this info, didn't think to check the manual. Also found that it's glass touchpad which is perfect, didn't see any reviews state the material.

  • That's a beastly laptop with the add ons

  • +5

That is a great deal if you add everything you can… bit too good honestly, might be up for orders getting cancelled

/edit - anyone know if this is a mini LED display or regular IPS? I assumed it was the regular one, but all the reviews are mini LED

    I checked - it's regular IPS

    • +1

There is no mini LED display upgrade option.

  • Works for any other laptops that are bigger and better?

  • LOL

  • Why have they stopped the 14" I dont get it!!!

    • No idea, would have loved to see a similar price error with the mini LED screen lol

      • Currently awaiting the 14" with mini LED, i9 with 64GB ram and 4070 from the July sales which was around $3400 or so. This is tempting me though.

        • $3400 ?!?
          This is much better value.

          • @congo: For sure. If this deal was a month earlier I’d have jumped on it. For whatever reason the 14” top specs are higher with 64GB of RAM and has the 4070 instead of the 4060 (as well as the mini led screen).

Not sure what Lenovo’s cancellation policies are on existing orders that haven’t shipped… and whether this will even be fulfilled if it’s an error.

            • @Luklaus: You should have went for this?
              https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/794531

              • +2

                @congo: You're suggesting a 17" behemoth to someone who's clearly after a 14" laptop for the size

                • @dogsryummy: This. I was willing to go 16" for the specs, although 14" was more desirable. It's more for professional use (CAD, blender) so wasn't really after a gaming laptop. The spec'd out 14" ticked all the boxes for a reasonable price.

  • Ordered. 4 weeks to build and deliver, unfortunately plenty of time for lenovo to cancel

  • What is the customer cancellation policy for those as per pervious deals? Since they apparently take quite a while to build, I'm assuming you can no longer cancel when they start building it, any experience with how long till that starts?

      1. Return Policy (Change of Mind, Incorrect Purchase)
6.1) If you are not happy with your purchase of Lenovo personal computer Products, you can return it for refund, based on your payment method, provided that:
        a) the Product(s) are undamaged; and
        b) you can contact Lenovo Post Sales or submit your return and refund request at your order tracking page within 7 calendar days from the time Product being delivered to you.
6.2) All Products will be subject to a restocking fee of 20% of the original purchase price (inc. GST). Such restocking fee will be deducted from your refund amount.

      2. Cancellation and Variation before Delivery
7.1) Unless otherwise provided, Orders cannot be cancelled or amended after the Order is placed. Please review your Order carefully.

      • I have cancelled orders in the past, I suspect if you get onto them reasonably quick it will be fine. Just say it was an unauthorised use of your card or something if they argue the point.

        • They will waive the restocking fee of 20%?

          • @congo: restocking is for returns

            • @nigel deborah: Thanks, so cancel 7 days before they ship and full refund.

              • @congo: hmm potentially, if you are going to cancel I'd probably do it sooner rather than later. They might be a bit less willing if they've started putting it together

  • Been looking for a laptop for a while now, and while I really didn't want a 16" (Bit too big for me) this deal is great with the add ons and this laptop is more or less exactly what I need (Though I'm going to hate the poor battery life), so I picked one up! Thanks!

  • Damn not the case with the Legions. Great deal though

  • +5

notebookcheck review of this laptop shows that the i9 cpu upgrade actually performs worse than the i7 due to throttling, that the hdmi out only supports 4k30, and that there is no advanced optimus for switching between igpu and 4060 for battery life.

    • +2

It's marginal though, most other benchmarks seem to show a 5 percent gain on the i9. Perhaps an issue with their unit.

The thunderbolt port will output very high resolutions via displayport. But the HDMI thing is just such a pointless shortfall.

  • Battery life of hmm… a few hours?

  • Saving $2,492.00 (52%)
Maybe it was meant to be on 50% off sale?

  • +5

I don’t think this is a pricing error or that orders would be cancelled. I ordered a couple of these a few months ago for $1800 with the i7 and iGPU so this price seems reasonable 👍

  • Tried another model that was 1172 it added 32 GB memory and windows pro without price change but going from 512 to 1gb ssd added 1200 on lol. If I paid 2400 on a laptop I would be to afraid to take it to the Philippines with me.

    • Which was that?

      • IdeaPad pro 5

    • Mind sharing the link to this one? Thanks.

    • I saw that one before too, thinking of getting it. I think the issue was crossing the 2k threshold - if you take off the RAM or CPU upgrade and put the SSD upgrade on it'll keep it at the sale price.

That one's got two slots for SSDs, so can both easily upgrade the existing or just add another in.

    • +1

great find. like others mentioned above, it's about the total price, once it's over certain threshold it jumps up a lot

can choose better CPU (a must since it has double the shaders in built in GPU) and double RAM because those you can't upgrade yourself. 512gb SSD will do, as upgrading it will nearly double the price with upgrades already selected. also choose 6e WiFi that upgrade also costs nothing

  • +6

Bro just went from Bottom G to Top G

  • can you switch the graphic card like the legion on this?

    • View Trance post up a few.

  • What would the realistic battery life be like on this with all the added extras?

    • 3-4 hours?

    • looks like the power consumption pretty similar

    • Battery life won't be very good I assume. If plugged in most of the time, this is a great deal with lots of power under the hood.

    • If you want it at high performance, terrible. If you lower the on-battery performance, disable gpu, set screen refresh to 60hz and whatever else I expect it'll be okay. Notebook check had it at 6.5 (normal use) 7.5 (video) and that is with default settings and the higher consumption mini-led display.

      • It seems as though you cant disable the GPU. Ideally I'd want to order this laptop without a GFX card

        • If you have access to Edu store, I think there was the same model different spec with the integrated graphics for about $1800, I think also price glitch since adding a +$49 CPU upgrade bumped it to $2500 or thereabouts so it was the i7 model. Try messing with it see if that one fits your needs.

  • Guess like im broke too by lenovos cart $$$

was cancelled by previous gaming deal, was actively looking for 1 substitute and came across this look like it!

  • Ordered for my son, lets see if they honour the deal or not.

  • Damn Lenovo, bought the Yoga 9i 14" (non-pro) 3 weeks ago for $2099 with the 13% cashback and now for $200 extra, a top end laptop…

Only negatives, 16" and shipping times… Mine hasn't shipped either.

  • Is Lenovo expected shipping time reliable?

    • Its ready to ship.

  • +1

How is the thermal management with these laptops? I have a Dell XPS 15 with an i7 CPU but it gets throttled significantly due to inadequate cooling. No point buying an i7/i9 laptop if it can perform like it should.

    • +1

How do you know it's thermal throttling?

      • +1

Download ThrottleStop. It has many features, one of which is telling you what the limiting factor to performance is - Power or CPU Throttling.

  • Can only see 4050 - is this deal expired?

    • +2

      back again

  • Have been waiting for one of these for ages, if it works, mana from ozbargain heaven.

    • Ended up cancelling, colour is meh and the thing is huge with poor battery life.

  • +2

Oh damn, I ordered one and just found out it's not a convertible! I really thought all Yogas were convertibles, wasn't that the point of the branding?

    • +3

      That changed 4 years ago

Yoga just means their premium line now, kind of silly imo

  • +1

    Thanks OP
Tried my luck let’s see if it goes through.
Also upgraded to the 3 year onsite warranty for $90

    • Is it worth getting the 3yr sealed battery replacement add on for $24?

  • Yeah, Nah, will wait for the Carbon Edition with AMD, if there is any coming.

  • +1

@tightarse any chance of upsized cashback? :)

  • On the confirmation email.

If Lenovo makes an error in pricing information, Lenovo may cancel your order, even if Lenovo has confirmed the receipt of your order and have charged your credit or debit card. Lenovo will promptly issue a credit to your credit or debit card account in the amount of the charge.

    • I believe its very normal price and should ve this price.

      • is it really? I've tried googling the model and most places have them at over 3k

        • I am seperately calculating the specs… so this should be the normal price. It doesn't matter if it 3k hiked price… my opinion, but it depends on everyone choice.

        • Okay i have searched online, you are referring to a completely different model and specs.

        • The last ozbargain deal was cost 100 more.

But has less windows pro, touch screen and 4060. Potentially there clearing out stock?

Try price matching with OW - Seems like this is the same model

  • +1

Thanks OP, Windows 11 Pro 64 + Microsoft 365 Personal can be added at same price too! Online rep just informed me out of no where lol

    • Ahh buscuits! I didnt realise that there was several versions of office that could be added for free. I tried adding the most expensive version which added ~2k to the cost, but anything up to MS Office Home and Business can be added at no additional cost.

      • +1

Nah only Personal could be added (at least when you max the spec for everything else), I saw Family was free but when I had it in addition all all the other spec it cancelled out the entire discount and blew it up to $4000+ so I went back down to Personal and it was a-okay
