not to knock on you at all, but isn't it a given that a device will be replaced by newer model almost every year?
Just more of a heads up.
The A8 was released in 2021, so not exactly every year.
ah fair enough! i haven't been following tablets, so makes sense - glad you didn't take it like i was attacking you aha
Wasn't this the same one as the Optus $150 deal last year? (or $95 for some of us after cashback)
Same tablet, but Optus one was 64GB 4G.
This is 128GB, which doesn't really matter since it has expandable memory using a MicroSD Card.
I hope they can squeeze more ram into the new model 4gb ram is so 2010.
Leaks suggest that its 4GB for the plus model, which would probably be the same for the base model…
These are the 'budget' line of Samsung Tablet, so doubt they would increase the RAM.
Based on recent Samsung Tablet releases:
- 4GB: Budget Tab 'A' Range Tablet
- 6GB: Fan Edition 'FE' Tablet
- 8GB+: Flagship Tab 'S' Range Tablet
Happy with the 6gb ram & 128 (and AMOLED screen) in the S5E, but it's getting a bit old now…
This or Samsung S6 Lite?
.
If they are the same price, I would go for the Tab S6 Lite 2022 model. It comes with a stylus and a snapdragon processor.
I bought S6 Lite 2022 from eBay using discounted GC but not opened yet. With TRS it'll come down to $336.
I might just keep it as it does have the pen…
.
It's a great little tablet with a bit more horsepower than the A8, the Pen is great too.
Got one of these with the Optus deal last year.
Probably my worst technology purchase in the last decade. Terrible screen in terms of colour rendition, temperature, and viewing angles. Slow as molasses even with the bare minimum stock installation — prepare for the device to be unresponsive even for the most basic of tasks like web browsing. Probably the only thing going for it is the build quality, which is decent.
This was my experience. I got it for a bargain and hated it
In hindsight I wonder if having gone from only flagship phones to this budget POS tablet, I am being unfair in having high expectations.
If someone is used to budget handsets then this would probably be an acceptable tablet, maybe.
Note: Rumors of Samsung Galaxy Tab A9 will be replacing this model later this year.
