Nectr Electricity Rates [QLD]

Got a quote (100% Clean plan) from Nectr based on our address and rates are reasonable,
but when I went to their rates web page - Nectr rates it shows much higher rates effective from 01/07/23…

Rates in the quote are pretty much what is listed under 2022-2023 rates (incl GST) column on that page, not 2023-2024 New rates from 1 July 2023 (incl GST)
Any idea what rates they are using to bill? 8-\
Thanks.

Upd. Under the plan features they say "Energy rates fixed for 12-month period" so probably that's why the quote uses old rates?

I believe the difference is between the plan rates, and the standing offer (i.e. default) rates.

whatever they quoted you. i've found their rates very competitive, compared to agl which just makes you want to cry …

Just take a screenshot of their quote in case they put the higher rates on your contract.

You are looking at a blog page about their updating of prices on July 1. Their rates and plans page is here: https://nectr.com.au/plans-and-fees/

Since no prices are listed you'll need to get a quote to see what the correct rates are: https://on.nectr.com.au/

edit: There is also a referral link to get $50 credit that you can access here: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/deals/nectr.com.au

  • "Payment by direct debit/recurring credit or debit card…"
Do they use Direct Debit only?
if yes, is it easy to change the card?
With AGL I pay bills manually with a card/paypal whichever has more benefits at the moment (points etc)..

    • billed monthly, direct debit by default i think. can manually pay using card from within online account, not sure about surcharges (if any)

      • thanks .do you know if they usually "estimate" usage or actually take meter readings?
or take them at least quarterly and recalculate charges

considering between Nectr and Ampol (10c fuel discount would be good but it's still cheaper to get fuel from another local station)

i don't know. i have a smart meter and i get an 'actual' reading each month. possibly you might get billed quarterly

        • As far as I understand, meters are read by the network operator instead of the individual electricity company.

We're with Nectr, it bills us monthly. Actual readings every few months (sometimes mid- billing month) estimates are used to fill in the gaps.

          • @Love a bargain: right… Also, it doesnt say if it's 12 months contract or I can exit anytime..
All I can see is that rates are fixed for 12 months and no CC/exit fees
I'm assuming it's month to month?
I remember few years ago contracts were for 1 year…

@VQLD: Don't think I've seen any energy plan that locks customers in. A fixed rate plan only means the price is fixed for the duration of the benefit period. The customer is still free to leave ir change plan whenever they want.

actually, i think for non- smart meters you can enter a monthly self-reading at the end of each month https://nectr.com.au/payment-and-billing-options/

it doesnt say if it's 12 months contract or I can exit anytime..

          no lock in

          • @c64: haha. Self-serve checkout
            Thank you.

  • Interesting. It looks like they've brought back the 100% clean plan again after taking it down a month ago after getting a zillion signups in a week.

Edit - At least in my area.
