  • Very nice. Looking for an upgrade to my CCA CRA+ that I've got, but tossing up between an upgrade to the IEMs themselves or to get a USB DAC to go with my Poco F3..

    • +1

I've got the CCA CRA+ and have tried using them with the KZ AZ15 blueooth adapters.. Not happy with the result. Blame is likely on the bluetooth adapters, ANC is non existent. How do you connect your IEMs?

      • I just use the USB-C to 3.5mm with my phone that's about it

  • Would you pair them with these?
Linsoul Tripowin Zonie 16 Core Silver Plated Cable SPC Earphone Cable or something else?

    • I have the same paired with Moondrop Arias, can reccomend.

Not sure how the stock cables are for the Zero:RED but I was absolutely fed up with the Aria stock cable

  • What's the difference between the Red and the Blue ones?

    https://www.amazon.com.au/Truthear-Crinacle-Composite-Diaphr…

    • +4

      red ones play music faster

    • Listen to the man himself explaining the difference between the 2 models. Basically a retuned version to Harman curve and hopefully more acceptable to a broader audience.

blue = harman (bass and treble boost - some may find it shouty due to slight treble boost. most don't have problem with bass boost)
red = ief neutral (tamed bass and treble)
generally, red better for general music - all personal preference
gaming-wise, blue (very good in competitive gaming) > red with 10ohm impedance adapter > red no adapter (very poor in competitive gaming)

      • Thanks for the elaborate response. I would def go with the Reds.

I do have Letshoure S12 and KZ xHBB PR2, I am not sure if this would be any sort of upgrade or just another IEMs in my inventory.

        • not better than s12. probably not worth to get if u like those. maybe look at hexa if u want a neutral profile. ive heard pr2 after the 1st batch from kz went to a dumpster in terms of qc and tuning.

          • @Dumb Dog: Thanks for saving my money, can you point me to the Hexa? Link please

            • +1

@sqheaven: Go to amazon and search truthear hexa

              • @Dumb Dog: Even if u like s12, no point in getting hexa really. Maybe save for a better set

                • @Dumb Dog: What's the next level in budget IEM?

                  • @sqheaven: Better than S12? Depends on tuning but given the s12 is at the $250 mark - Blessing2/(3 when it comes out) dusk or moondrop variations for higher tier. Idk if I'd personally go above this for IEMs - it really doesn't get much better.

Much better sale price for the Red, but the Hexa is right there at $98.

  • These or the moondrop arias?

    • These (imo)

  • These are known to be really good. My personal recommendation would be to extend your budget slightly and get thr Fiio JD7. The soundstage on that thing is out of the world! (or should I say out of the head)
I follow this guy called NK Tran who has his blog called in ear gems. He helped me find the JD7. He is from Adelaide. Love his reviews.

    • Price and where's the best place to get this?

      • I got it from aliexpress for $110 during their 11/11 sale. I would recommend picking it up from the official fiio store on AE

        • With their semi-open design, how much do these leak sound to those around you?

          • +1

@opposablethumbs: not as much as a flathead earbud or some fully-open cans.
I use it regularly in my train commute and find that the isolation & the leakage are well within societal acceptable limits :D

            • @thegamerulez: Thanks.

I like fairly neutral, so went with the Truthear Hexa @$98, which is about as cheap as I've seen them in last 6 months.

              • @opposablethumbs: Researching IEMs is such a nightmare!
Was looking at the Hexas as well and read some great reviews. But then read some bad ones.. now I'm torn! Lol

                • @AusGamer: Every individual has different preferences and TBH most punters probably wouldn't notice much difference, esp. when out and about with a lot of surrounding noise.

If you believe the hype about the Harman curve being the most palatable to most people then the Reds here are a bargain price.

If (as your user name suggests) your a gamer and going to use them for that then @Dumb Dog above suggests the Blues will be better for that use.

If you can spring a bit more and don't mind a bit of sound leakage then Fiio JD7 suggested by @thegamerulez have decent reviews and look like a solid performer for the price.

I just know my neutral/studio (not overblown bass) preference, so went for the Hexa while they're about as cheap as they normally get.

Whatever you get you can still adjust to some extent with an equaliser, even on your smartphone.

It still astounds me however, how many people are willing to pay silly prices and even prefer headphones/IEMs where the bass heavy tuning covers a lot of the basic deficiencies and it is clear more money has been spent on marketing than actually optimising their performance (not talking about the offerings discussed here though) YMMV :-).

  • -1

are these ear bud headphones, or am i missing something here.

    • Correct IEMs - In Ear Monitors. So high end ear buds.

      • oh wow. ok thanks.

how do they comoare with say, apple airpods¿

        • +1

All IEMs discussed in this thread are wired and much better bang for buck.
