I bought a wish giftcard to use at BIG W and keyed in the number and it would not accept the last digit. So I thought I had written it down wrong. It was inconvenient because I had to use other money. So I got home and checked, and I had written down the number correctly. I checked another card, and they both had 13 digits. But the self checkout terminal would only accept 12 numbers. What could have happened here?

You should just enter the number into the Woolworths Money app, then it'll generate a bar code for you to scan
I key them in manually at woolies with no problems
@screensaver: I'm just offering you an alternative for next time
@kyle: I sometimes print them out at officeworks, but havent needed to until now
@screensaver: I take it that you don't use a digital wallet to store any of your loyalty cards and gift cards?
@kyle: no
@screensaver: Maybe time to consider using it? No need for paper, no need to write down numbers, no need to key in card numbers, only need to enter pin
Maybe time to consider using it?
Then we wouldn't have this entertaining thread to brighten up our day. ;-)
@screensaver: Please kindly hand back your OzBargain membership card to Scotty.

The mystery deepens Pam
It's the deep state's doing. 13 digits is how they identify us. They've put on Pam's Wish card.
Sometimes you can get a card that is specific to Woolworths but comes up as a wish gift card in the app. Trying to use it anywhere else throws up an error.

Oh the horror…. This is why you scan the barcode instead.
Can't you scan the bar code?
