Additional notes Most powerful tablet in list and my recommendation. Low to mid range gaming performance. Two versions available - 64GB & 128GB storage. The latter is recommended. Larger battery & better cameras than iPlay 50 Mini, but slower storage. Recommended over the iPlay 50 Mini and Doogee due to better CPU, display and battery Weaker CPU than Unisoc T606, but designed for outdoor use with rugged design, bright display, large battery, IP68/69K waterproof etc.

A post by @Clear , as always THE gold standard in Android tablets. Much thanks.

  • +1

Is this running vanilla Android or a custom UI?

    • +1

Vanilla Android. Would be some minor changes but nothing major like MIUI or ZUI.

  • Just out of curiosity - why does this have Widevine L1 but the iPlay 50 Pro only has Widevine L2?

So this one does Netflix in HD?

    • I think widevide L1 doesn't automatically mean HD Netflix for android tabs, it also has to be whitelisted. I don't know if this is whitelisted, but I would lean towards probably not.

      • Thanks for that info, just odd that the brand wouldn’t seek Widevine L1 for all their ‘pro’ range

  • +1

These sub, $200, maybe up to about $250-280 are the sweet spot for these unsupported china tabs. Any more than this and it just doesn't stack up against Samsung, google and Apple tablets IMO.

This however looks like a great buy for someone after a mid-range android tablet to hand off to the kids or watch content on.

  • +1

Any cheaper models with good screen but without 4G LTE?

  • I'm getting $205 at checkout…?

    • Are you using the promo code?

      • Yep… Discounts I'm getting from $159.99 US starting price:

        $18 US
        $15 US
        $12 US

        Then add $13.20 US tax

Total comes to $128.19 USD at checkout… Or ~$205.04 AUD.

        • Yeah, I ended up paying around that. For $15 I just said F it…I should hand in my OzB card I know!

          • +3

@djackal79: Please return any remaining eneloops, halo jackets and woodworm umbrella on the way out. :)

        • I got it to US$121.08 including some coins. Coins took off a further US$2.46.

          • @Gav: How did you manage that?

            • @Uncle Chop Chop: You accrue them by "checking in" regularly (main page > Account > My coins). Builds up a wallet. It automatically applies them when you buy qualifying items. Not sure of their impact on cashback (assume the worst).

              • @Gav: No I meant how did you get it under 128.19 USD, before the coins? If you only used $2.46 in coins and got it down to $121.08.

                • @Uncle Chop Chop: Subtotal US $155.99

I couldn't enter code BTS12 for $12 until the checkout page at the end. That help? (I did notice stock levels drop quickly while ordering so maybe something changed)

                  • @Gav: How did you get a starting price of $155.99? It's showing $159.99 for me. Using the website.

                    • @Uncle Chop Chop: Make sure you're logged in, and your account is set to USD at the top. Otherwise, dunno. Just tested again - it shows US$155.99 still (Bundle 1)

                      • @Gav: Yep I've been flicking between USD and AUD. It's 100% showing $159.99… same as the product picture?

  • Hmm just got the Blackview 11 today but this is pretty tempting. Videos on that one is pretty meh

  • +2

these are landfill in 2-3 years when the batteries die, as there don't seem to be replacements for the brand (ali/ebay etc).
so prob better $$ worth getting a brand that has parts available for the wear components (battery/ports).

(also i prefer to avoid taking dumps on mother earth if it can be avoided)

    • +2

I have been waiting for a LTE/5G 8 inch Android tablet from Samsung for ages. They don't make them in 8 anymore, they want you to spend 2.5K on their foldables now. We don't have a choice but to buy these random brands because no one else is making a 8 inch Android tablet.

      • +2

hopefully the forthcoming EU laws requiring user replaceable phone batteries eventually reaches australia/rando brands/tablets etc..

        • Yeah that's a good point. I feel like these random Chinese OEM's might skate by the laws for a while though, but something to hope for.

    • -1

I share your view on this. The problem is not specific on this device/manufacturer. The issue is the lithium batteries start degrading when they are sitting on the shelves.
By the time new battery required, there is no good quality or fresh ones to be found/manufactured.
Sometimes spending big money on new batteries doesn't guarantee that it's a good battery.

  • Do any of these support HDMI out via USB C ie plug into your tv for screen mirroring?

  • Should have waited for your post to save 20. Ordered the bundle 2 for around 220 a few minutes ago from the mobile app. I was so excited for this one, love the iPlay Mini 50 and remember the comment someone made for a G99 one coming, been waiting for it since then. 20 bucks, oh well still a great deal. Awesome post.

Now we just need a the rumered new Y700 with a 8+ Gen 1 to be around 400-500 with a 5G variant that has GPS and a Digital compass. Oh man the dream.

    • I intended on picking one up myself but ended up sleeping after posting so I know the pain!

      • Ohh yeah happens to the best of us :D Hopefully there are even better ones on the Horizon. Still use my Mi Pad 4 these days too! Maybe Xiaomi will join the party again.

    • youre getting into iPad mini prices now though

      • iPad Mini are still 900+ I got a 5G iPad mini about a year ago on sale for 970. They haven't updated them in a while too. I prefer Android far more now, iOS just feels dated and cultivated to me now.

  • Any good mini PCs this sale Clear?

  • Just tried bundle 1 and is showing $186.80 at checkout. Not sure if worth getting the other bundles

    • How are you getting this? Still showing $205.04 for me, with the three discounts.

Edit: goes down to $198.06 using the app, and the same codes. But still not near the deal price.

    Thanks @Clear love your work.

  • Supposedly this model has 18W fast charging unlike the standard mini which appears to have only 10W - can anyone confirm?

    • +1

      Yes according to the specs.

  • Damn, missed it! Thanks anyway for another great post Clear :)

    • Yeah that's a deal breaker

@Clear is this true that it's only a mono speaker?

  • +1

    these are e-waste

    • +4

You're not supposed to buy and throw in the bin. And if you are going to chuck it in landfill after receiving go take it to a recycle plant.

      • -1

.. and let them throw it in the bin.

    • +1

I've been burnt by cheap Android tablets before (well not literally - yet), but my Alldocube Neo X is still going strong after 2 years of daily use. It came with decent specs and vanilla Android with no unremovable crapware; so I'd say this brand is one of the better ones.

  • Just out of curiosity, is the battery more likely to explode on these no name devices than an iPad or Samsung?

    • i don't think there's gonna be stats available to answer your question.

but in my experience.. more likely the batteries just won't have the rated mAh or comparable longevity..
also.. you won't be able to get parts when the battery/charging port fails.. or other things like cases/screen protectors.

it's more likely they are churning out crappy riskier products.. because if the consumer catches on (or catches on fire).. they can simply rebrand..

churn and burn.. rinse and repeat.

  • Arghhh I just bought the regular Alldocube Mini last month!

    • same :(
oh well i only paid $130 and my 5yo enjoys it.

      • ' * o * i paid 155 :( i was going to get this as well but then it takes me over $300+ and sadly I dont think anyone will want to buy the regular mini off me.

Resale value = one of the biggest issues with these no name tablets. low or non existent resale

        • @ChatCPT Does the one you bought have auto brightness? (I guess these don't have a light sensor?)

  • Is there anyway to get the same kind of pricing for two? If I add more the price difference is huge.

Could I just do two orders or will the coupons be used up?

    • +1

      second order?
      second account?

  • This is like Fold 5 for tightarses, your give-up fold functionality, but get it 14x cheaper.

    • +4

… so just a regular tablet?

  • Great description, thank you!

  • Has anyone found a suitable case for this (as I ordered Bundle 1)?

  • Can it use to make a phone call ?

    • Yes - assuming you have a working SIM.

      • +1

Interesting, basically can replace mobile phone then ? Thanks.

  • Do these come with display port out via the USB C port? Looking for something to use with my TCL nextwear s smart glasses that's somewhat portable. I have a pixel 7 pro so can't use that with the glasses.

  • This vs Y700 vs Tab A7 Lite?

  • was expired for bundle 1 i know, but i just managed to buy. $204 AUD - i know not the best price but still not bad

  • +1

I DO NOT recommend this brand.
After playing around with the alldocube mini for a month I noticed the battery drains very badly in sleep mode!

I mean seriously crap it went from 70% to 40% doing nothing no background apps or installing just turned off screen and left on desk!
    Ymmv

    • Turn off wifi and see how you go.

  • Has this shipped for anyone?

    • Yes, got notification last night.

    • Nope, I'm onto the final day now before my order gets automatically cancelled :(

      • +1

Oh mine was shipped yesterday, I bought bundle 4

      • @WhiteC0llarCrime did it eventually ship before cancellation?

        • +1

Yeah, luckily before the auto refund timer ran out. I did message the seller though.

    • Yes - packed yesterday, and tracking number advised.

  • Received today in MEL. Not had a chance to check it out yet.

  • +5

Got mine today. Played with it for a bit and used it for navigation in the car for about 20 mins.

Exact same body as the iPlay Mini 50, the case I got with this one fits the non pro too, it was even labeled as for the non pro. The weight is hard to tell apart, I feel like it is slightly heavier but could be my mind playing tricks (It should be heavier with a 5k vs 4k battery right? The pro also adds a vibration motor). I can't tell the screens apart, an excellent panel however interestingly the non pro came with a matte pre-applied screen protector and the pro has a glossy one. Maybe it's just the luck of the draw as to which one you get.

The 8GB ram and G99 is a huge upgrade over the 4GB Unisoc Tiger T606. After using the Pro, the non Pro feels sluggish, although still a decent experience. Also the GPS reception and accuracy is a big upgrade. I love to use these small tablets as navigation for the car and the T606 was horrid, the G99 is up there with the SD680, even slightly better, it could see more sats (45 vs 35 on SD680), had more locks (15 vs 13) and had a accuracy of 3m (5m for SD680, these are both in my room) within seconds, even came down to 0m. The T606 in the same situation could only see 8 sats and locked to 4 with an accuracy bouncing rapidly between 15-20m. A shame none have a digital compass but I've learned to live without it. It's more of an issue for when you are walking, don't really need a tablet for that.

Also the vibration motor is a nice addition, call quality and reception is excellent, wifi is great. Haven't used it for media yet. All in all definitely worth the extra $40 over the non Pro, the G99 and 8GB ram are a big improvement.

Edit: Forgot to mention, the software is better on the Pro, with the non Pro it wouldn't pick an accent from the wallpaper for me, so my device is stuck with pink accents no matter what, with the pro that's not the case. Would be nice if they let you turn this on and off, but trying to access the pixel style setting via shortcut maker just directs to changing a wallaper. Also there's no icons in the settings page for the Pro, makes it look more stock. No double tap to wake or double tap status bar to sleep sadly. 3 finger screenshot is there, even though there's no setting for it.

The book case is nice, better then nothing, don't like book cases, prefer tpu cover and nothing more but it's ok. Does turn into a stand.

Nice review, agree with everything - the wife is very happy with it, nice upgrade from her Lenovo Tab3 8 Plus that had served her well.
