Samsung Trade In Bonus

I'm looking to get a new phone from Samsung's web store, and there is a $300 trade-in bonus for sending back an old phone.

I have an S21 Ultra that was purchased overseas years ago, and it underwent some repairs using third-party components (It works perfectly though). I checked the Samsung trade-in app and am pretty sure it won't meet the criteria for the trade-in. It also shows its probably worth $10 after I changed some parameters.

But I was wondering: if I do send Samsung the S21, will they accept it and not charge me the trade-in bonus?

    Lots of issues with trade in. Best to grab an old shitty phone that only trades in for $10 and send that in. If it gets "lost" in the trade in centre, they will only charge you $10. You will still get the bonus.

    If you can't get a code through the Trade-up app then you won't get the discount. Conversely if you do get a code and you didn't lie about anything, you'll get the discount.

    On the other hand, if you get the code from the Trade-up app and don't send the phone, I'm pretty sure you get to keep the trade-in bonus, they just don't pay you the amount they were going to give you for the phone.

      You get to keep the tradein bonus, but the phone amount + $60 non-return charges gets deducted by Asurion.

        Question on this one, if I decide not to trade in. Do I need to formally "cancel" the trade or can I just not do anything (ack that I will get charged $60 and phone trade-in value but keep the bonus).

        If I "cancel" do I lose the bonus?

          Just ignore Asurion's emails, they'll charge the $60 fee and phone trade-in value and that should be the end of it.

    How did you go? I don't want to post my phone in to keep it as spare.

    Has this changed recently. I did a trade with the s24 and after all these issues I may be better off just keeping the phone as a spare. Do they deactivate the phone? Will they just keep the $$ that I was supposed to get for the trade? Will I loose my trade in bonus?
