OZB-SPRING

Quick Intro

My deal video: https://youtu.be/qFcFh67R2U0

Thank you to everyone who has continued to support us on OzBargain and our website! The support and feedback has been incredible, allowing us to continue to improve as a team and a brand. We have again received a number of requests for a new deal and so here it is, a little better than last time, which I hope represents some great value.

The Deal

Amino Z Whey Protein Isolate 4kg for $149.99 Delivered + $50 back in store credit (Repeat Customers $55/Pre-Existing & Paid Club Z $65)

I note that we've made a bit of a change - if you have purchased from us before, you'll now get back $55 in credit as a token of our appreciation of your support.

Plus we have some aggressive offers on these other products of ours:

Coupon code: OZB-SPRING (add in shopping cart)

You will get the store credit just so long as you order 4kg of WPI (or more). You can order anything else on top of this and you will still receive the bonus credit amount.

WPI Flavours

We now have 21 flavours available to choose from. (I recorded the above video and then our team added even more new flavours for this deal!)

Our new releases are: Aussie Choc Malt (reformulated - thank you for the feedback on the old flavour!), Chocolate Honeycomb, Pandan & Coconut Gelato, Taro Milk Ice Cream, Choc Hazelnut (extremely limited quantity available)

All flavours are naturally sweetened. All use thaumatin except for Cinnamon Icing (which uses stevia). Please note that some people find the stevia aftertaste unpleasantly bitter, so we'd recommend avoiding the cinnamon icing flavour if you're concerned about this.

We have transitioned over to thaumatin for the fact that it is an all natural plant based sweetener, a superior flavour profile, a neutral insulin impact (as it is a protein) and being very gentle on the gut. A bit of trivia, thaumatin is about 10x the cost of artificial counterparts (eg. sucralose) and more than 5x the cost of stevia based on weight! Our focus remains on product quality.

Also note the Unflavoured option is straight WPI with just sunflower lecithin added at the point of manufacture to assist in mixing and reduce frothing (less than 1% w/w). There is no sweetener added either.

Flavour Availability:

Flavour availability will change throughout the deal. I will this area updated as flavours run out.

  • On Backorder (Can be backordered): Taro Milk Ice Cream (back in stock Aug 28-29), Pandan (back in stock within 2 weeks)
  • Sold Out (Cannot be backordered): Cinnamon Icing, Chocolate Hazelnut (Note, if you already ordered Chocolate Hazelnut, it will be shipped next week - please ignore any auto emails about it being out of stock)

All other flavours are in stock.

Product Breakdown

  • 100% Australian Blended and Packed in our Sydney Facility
  • Our manufacturing facility is owned by us and is a NSW Licensed Food Facility with an approved Dairy Processing license
  • For the nutritional information for each flavour, please click on the "Nutritional Info" tab. The best macros are for Unflavoured (Per serve: 29.7g P / 0.3g F / 0.4g C), and the flavour breakdowns will be variable. All other flavours have less than 1g of fat per serve and 1.2-3.7g of carbs/serve. The new Aussie Choc Malt is the only exception with 9.9g carbs/serve (from the malt component) - I highly recommend it for the taste, avoid if you want to keep the carbs down.
  • We only use WPI in this protein - this is not a blend of other cheaper proteins (for example Whey Protein Concentrate/WPC)
  • Protein is added hormone free, ultra and micro filtered and cold pressed
  • Naturally sweetened with thaumatin (except Cinnamon Icing which uses stevia). We do not use artificial sweeteners.
  • Soy free - we use sunflower lecithin instead of soy lecithin (soy is common in whey proteins)
  • Backed by our 110% Guarantee. Try it and if you don't love it, we'll give you 110% back (in store credit) or a full refund (including delivery). As I mentioned in the video, we offer this so you can try the product risk-free. If you've opened it up to try it we're not going to make you send it back either.

Commonly Asked - Amino Z WPI / ON 100% Whey / Musashi 100% Whey (The 3 most popular products here on OzBargain)

In almost all of our prior WPI deals, I have been asked how our WPI compares to two other very popular products on OzBargain that we sell (Optimum Nutrition 100% Gold Standard Whey and Musashi 100% Whey).

One thing I want to emphasise is that we sell all three products and despite us obviously having a vested interest in our own brand, we firmly stand behind the quality of all three products (hence why we stock all of them).

I asked our team to put together a comprehensive and objective video detailing many key differences between the three products. So if you're interested, the video can be seen at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6LBeV33fArc

Obviously taste will come down to personal preference so we haven't touched on this, we have instead focussed on key attributes of each product. I hope this presents a fair representation of each.

Other Notes/Common Questions

  • Choose Multiple Flavours: We pack these into 1kg pouches. Choose the multi-flavour option for 4 different flavours.
  • Packaging: All our WPI now has the new zipper packaging. You can purchase a plastic tub separately (select the option just above the "Add to Cart" button)
  • Nutritional Information: To view the full nutritional panel, just click on the "NUTRITIONAL INFO" tab on the page and then select the flavour.
  • Best Before Dates: Best before dates will be 18-24 months away. We turn this product over very quickly so all current stock has been produced recently.
  • Free Delivery: You will get free delivery on your entire order when you order any Amino Z or Bandito Labs supplements.
  • Applying Store Credit: To apply existing store credit (Z Points), firstly make sure that you are logged in. Then, go into checkout and after entering your delivery and shipping choice, select "Load Payment Methods". Once loaded, you will see an option entitled "Spend Your Points". Click this and then enter how many points you wish to apply as a discount to your order. You can apply points acquired from previous deals to this purchase.
  • Applying the Coupon Code: Please apply the coupon code in your shopping cart before checking out.
  • 30% Discount: The 30% discount will be off the full price before discount, not on the already discounted price.
  • Receiving Store Credit: Store credit is assigned as "Z Points" to your account within 10 days of your order shipping. It can then be applied to any future order that you place.
  • Store Credit Limit: There is a limit of one lot of bonus store credit per person during the promotional period. You can order more than 4kg of WPI, but the store credit will be capped so we can stay in business and keep doing deals like these.
  • Other Store Credit Info: Store credit does NOT expire. Also, you do NOT have to be a Club Z member to retain your store credit.
  • Club Z: Our Club Z membership program is a paid subscription with the most common membership being $9.99/month with $10 back/month for each monthly renewal. This is different to having an account on our website. We frequently run Club Z bonus offers, such as in this deal where anyone who was already an existing active and paid Club Z member (immediately prior to launching this promo) will receive a total of $65 back in Z Points. Full info here.
  • Referral Codes: Please note that this offer won't stack with our referral code offer, nor any other offers.
  • Our 5 most popular flavours: Chocolate, Vanilla, Aussie Choc Malt, Iced Coffee and Matcha Green Tea Ice Cream.

A word of thanks

Once again, thank you to everyone who has continued to support our brand. Honestly OzBargain has been the source of a lot of feedback and insight which has been (and continues to be) a source of direction and inspiration for us. We're certainly not perfect, but we are always looking to get better.

Thank you also to everyone who has replied back to my post-purchase email with direct feedback. I read every single one of these emails and greatly appreciate the insights.

I will continue to be on this forum to engage directly and take on board all feedback. Vanessa will be dealing with private messages, so please send through a message for anything specific for your order so she can assist. If you need anything, please don't hesitate to reach out!

Cinnamon Icing (will be sold out once exhausted), Chocolate Hazelnut (will be sold out once exhausted), Taro (if it sells out, will be back in stock by Wednesday), Pandan (if current stocks sell out, it can be backordered and will incur a 2-3 week delay). These flavours are all still available and in-stock and the website will update when they run out. - Jay

22/08/23 2:55PM: Taro Milk Ice Cream is temporarily out of stock. We are in the process of making more product today so any orders should not be delayed. You may however see a notification on the website saying it is on backorder. - Jay

22/08/23 4:43PM: Taro Milk Ice Cream has come back in stock, no orders will be delayed as a result. Please ignore any automated emails you may have received if you ordered while it was out, your order will dispatch on time. Cinnamon Icing, Chocolate Hazelnut and Pandan flavours continue to be relatively low on stock for now, but still available. - Jay

23/08/23 10:25AM: Orders are continuing to be dispatched on-time (within 24 hours). We remain low on Cinnamon, Chocolate Hazelnut and Pandan flavours, but they are still in stock at this moment. Thank you to everyone of the support of this deal, our entire team is working overtime to ensure everything goes smoothly. For anything urgent (eg. order fixes), please PM Vanessa on OzBargain (under this account) as our customer service team are a few hours behind in responding to emails due to the volume of orders we are currently processing. - Jay

24/08/23 8:54AM: Orders are continuing to be dispatched within 24 hours of placing your order. We've managed to keep on top of manufacturing demand and remain in stock of all our flavours. Our customer service team is still a few hours behind on emails, so please send through a message on OzBargain for anything that is urgent (eg. order changes - so we can hopefully catch it before it ships). As everyone is now receiving their deliveries, should you have any issues please reach out to our team and we will be more than happy to rectify (eg. damaged in transit, any issues with the pouches, or if you just don't like it). Thank you again for the overwhelming support of this deal! - Jay

25/08/23 11:15AM: Taro, Pandan and Choc Hazelnut flavours are currently on backorder. If you have backordered Taro or Choc Hazelnut, your order will ship on either Monday or Tuesday next week after we produce more stock so there should be minimal delay (if any). If you have backordered Pandan, your order will ship within 2-3 weeks (we are waiting on more flavouring to arrive). If you receive an auto-email about Choc Hazelnut being unavailable please ignore this, we will have your order sent next week. Feel free to contact us to change flavours if this causes any issues. Otherwise all orders are being shipped within 24 hours of being placed. - Jay

27/08/23 8:53AM: Cinnamon Icing is now sold out completely. Any backorders for Taro and Choc Hazelnut will be fulfilled in a couple of days. Pandan backorders will be fulfilled within about 2 weeks. All orders are being dispatched on time (weekend orders will be sent Monday). Thanks again for the overwhelming support for this deal! - Jay

28/08/23 8:51AM: We have decided to extend this promotion after receiving a number of requests from some of our loyal customers who missed out. This will only be for a short period, but given how much support and constructive feedback we have received, we feel it is only fair. Thank you to everyone who has supported this deal and made it our highest upvoted supplement offer ever! Please note, taro will be back in stock today/tomorrow and pandan will be back in stock within 2 weeks. Choc hazelnut backorders will be fulfilled within 48 hours (but sorry, we cannot accept more orders for this flavour since we have a supply delay on the flavouring and cannot guarantee a new dispatch date yet). If anyone has any issues whatsoever, please reach out to our team and we will do our very best to fix so you're happy! - Jay

28/08/23 11:35AM: We just produced a new batch of taro, but even more backorders have been created on this flavour. We are waiting on more flavouring to arrive and we expect these new backorders to ship within 2-3 weeks. Should this be too long for you, please PM us and we can change flavours, or split your order into 2 shipments. Thanks for your understanding! - Jay

29/08/23 7:35AM: I realise I made a mistake yesterday when extending the promotion and have now rectified this, it is set to finish on Wednesday after which we will 100% have to end this promotion. We have just produced some more chocolate hazelnut and the good news is we have a small quantity remaining if anyone is after this very popular flavour. Please note, choc hazelnut cannot be backordered due to ingredient supply issues. Taro and pandan will both have a wait time of approximately 2-3 weeks for backorders (we are doing our best to expedite this, but are waiting on more flavouring to arrive). Thank you again to everyone for the ongoing support of this deal, we have been extremely fortunate to have such an amazing customer base and we will continue taking on board all of this amazing feedback so we can do even better. - Jay

How long will this run for? Will it be available on Thursday?

    • +1

Thanks for asking @nfenech - we're currently running this until Sunday, unless stock levels are exhausted prior to them. The more likely situation is that a few flavours will run out during the course of this promotion and prior to Thursday. But at this stage, yes, until Sunday :)

      Thanks again!

Keep up the great work Jay and Vanessa. Loved my latest Coffs Harbour choc banana protein.

    • +2

Thanks as always @Slo20 and I'm glad you liked it. It was a huge improvement on our last choc banana. I'll pass this along to our team too.

      Jay

Thanks Jay! Looking forward to trying the new Pandan & Coconut Flavour.

    • +4

Oh cool thanks for giving the new flavour a go. I fell in love with Pandan the first time I tried it as a dessert at a restaurant, and Chiara developed this one much to my delight :) Anyway, thanks for your support of the brand!

      Jay

      • +1

The taro is so good!! 😵‍💫😵

  • Thanks! I was excited to try the new choc malt flavour before but it had stevia in it which I wasn't a fan of. On the other hand when I mixed vanilla WPI (with thaumatin sweetener) and actual milo it tasted amazing. Hope the new powder tastes similar.

    • +2

Thanks @orbz - yeah we had very mixed opinions on the old Aussie Choc Malt which is now completely discontinued. Thanks for giving it a go and it is backed up our 110% Guarantee if you don't like it for whatever reason. Thanks for the support!

      Jay

  • -5

Loving it! Have you guys considered a more concentrated WPI product like one that give you 40-50g protein per scoop? I note there are a few competitors offering 10-20% more protein than you guys. Will be much easier for me to hit my protein intake per day if you do this I.e. 2 X 50g vs 3-4x 27g for those aiming for 160g+day. Cheers and appreciate your response!

    • +9

      Thanks for the support @TheFIREnanceGuy

I love the suggestion and we do find that there is a high degree of variance between products for protein per serve (we actually sell a few other brands that recommend larger serving sizes too).

Ultimately though, this will come down to personal preference. Theoretically on the label we could advertise double the protein per serve, but you would also get half the servings per package. If your diet requires more protein, then go for it and increase the serving size accordingly.

If you look at the protein percentage (ie. the actual concentration of the protein per 100g), you generally won't find much higher than our unflavoured which is 90%. Our flavours will vary in protein density, but are generally pretty high by industry standards.

Does this make sense? Please let me know if you require further clarity.

      Jay

    • +5

Just to clarify for me, you want them to make 50g of protein in a 30g scoop?

Have you thought about adding omega-3 fatty acids into your sup regime?

      • -2

Yes I already take omega 3.

I guess not necessarily 50g protein in 30g, but a larger scoop with 250ml water like below rather than having to have two scoops of 30g with 500ml like I am doing with aminoz:
        https://www.uprotein.com.au/4kg-bulk-buy-whey-isolate-premiu… @aminozcomau

        • +1

Oh right, so if I understand correctly, you mean to create a different formulation with less flavouring, so the flavour is less intense if you add more into the same amount of liquid?

Ok then, well I'll pass this along to the team as a suggestion to consider. We have opted to go for a more typical serving amount of protein based on our more typical customer preferences, but we will always be happy to consider alternative suggestions. Thank you!

          Jay

          • +2

@aminozcomau: You got it! Sorry I didn't mean my comment as a criticism. I buy your product all the time, but wondered if it can be considered. Maybe even start with an unflavoured higher scoop size to see how it goes as a product. I speak with buddies who go to the gym and are wondering why there isnt more of these products.

            • @TheFIREnanceGuy: No worries, thanks for the suggestion and I'm certainly not taking it as a criticism. It's something we will discuss. There's a million and one things we want to do with our limited resources, so I cannot promise anything here, but we will certainly consider this.

              Thanks again.

              Jay

            • +2

@TheFIREnanceGuy: I agree with this suggestion. I mix flavoured protein with raw protein to dilute the sweetness.

I find most proteins are very very sweet and raw by itself is too hard to consume. A blend of both is pretty perfect.

              • @sleet: Thanks also for sharing @sleet this will be very helpful for us to take on board. I've taken note and will bring this up with the team.

                Jay

                • @aminozcomau: I second this. It should be possible to formulate a secret tasting WPI with minimum 90% protein content.

              • @sleet: whats raw protein?
                does it mean the unflavoured?

Thanks for asking and you can use this code on our Vegan range for 30% off. Our two main sellers are:

      Amino Z Vegan Protein
      Amino Z Pea Protein Isolate

They are both backed by our 110% Guarantee just like our WPI, and come with free delivery. Thanks again for the support @xtommyk

      Jay

      • Thanks Jay, ordered 4kg of the vegan to give it a try. Have loved the normal wpi previously. Thanks for being such a great rep and really putting in the effort for ozb.

        • My pleasure and thank you for the support of the brand!

          Jay

  • Recommend me whats the best choc flavor?

    • +2

Our team love the choc honeycomb flavour that we just released. However in terms of top sellers, the Chocolate is #1 and the Aussie Choc Malt is also a very popular one (we just reformulated it completely).

I hope this helps, but if you get something you don't like please just reach out to our team with the 110% Guarantee offer we have in place.

      Jay

I found chocolate tastes like milo without the chunky bits and matcha green tea ice cream was surprisingly good!

    (will DM my order number)

    • +4

Yes absolutely @monkeymajik - please PM and Vanessa will fix this up for you.

      Jay

      • +11

Thanks, just placed an order. If i can provide a feedback, the zip bags aren't the greatest. Once zipped, they can easily be re-opened with the slightest touch. Not a big deal but thought you should know :)

Keep up the good work guys! Been a loyal customer since June 2021!

        • +1

disagree - zip bags work great!

          • +4

@botchie: Disagree - zip bags are great in theory and work most of the time for me but still find lately I have to run the fingers along to close off a few "opened" sections. The zip lock on the PWO sometimes doesn't lock at all.

I like and prefer the zip lock but it does need a second handling to ensure it's properly shut.

        • +1

Thanks so much for the feedback @No Child Support and also @botchie

We are currently looking for ways to improve this. Some people love our pouches, others don't. This is actually currently a key focus of what we are trying to improve and when we do make an improvement, it will be better than what we currently offer. Thanks again for the feedback here, it really helps us out.

I really appreciate the ongoing support and loyalty, thank you!

          Jay

        • +1

Agreed - Signed in just to echo this
I usually buy in bulk and like rotating between flavours, sometimes if I neglect a specific flavour for some time and come back to it, I'll notice that the bag has been opened (for god knows who long) due to the zip popping open somehow.
Doesn't stop me from still drinking it though :P
Happened a few times to me ^

          • +1

@Surtr: Thanks for this feedback @Surtr

This is a top priority for us to fix. The pouches are not perfect and while we have released an improved version more recently, we are still not 100% happy with it. The new pouches more consistently seal the upper zipper more consistently and tighter. However there is still room for improvement.

So long as it's kept dry, is within the best before date, tastes normal and doesn't clump up in the bag, it should be fine. These powders don't generally absorb much moisture from the air. It is obviously best to keep it sealed though.

This is something I will pass along to the team, thank you for this feedback.

    $50 Credit ($55 Past Customers/$65 ClubZ)

now this rewards loyalty & acquisition. take notes

    • +10

I really appreciate this feedback @capslock janitor

This has been a big priority for us and a lot of the promotions we've been doing this year has been focussed on loyalty. That's how we stay in business after all, but I feel it is very important to continue to incentivise those who have supported us.

      Jay

  • Thanks Jay.

Down to my last bag will re-order and get some more preworkout.

FWIW I do not recommend the coconute icecream one. Mixes terribly and taste is only soso.

Vanilla and chocolate are great if not a little boring.

    • +1

Thanks for the upvote @Jimothy Wongingtons and for the ongoing support.

Did we look after you with the coconut ice cream if you didn't like it? We'll be happy to send out an alternative flavour (at our expense) if you're unhappy. Feel free to PM Vanessa.

I will pass this along to our team too.

      Jay

      • no - you just advised some flavours do mix better than others, so just accepted that.
i will be giving your new release flavours a go this time. hyped for pandan coconut, so hard to get this type of artificial flavour well balanced imo. will be interesting.

        • +1

Yeah the coconut was one of the poorer mixing ones. We have found a solution to this and are gradually rolling this out so they dissolve more easily, but thank you again for sharing this.

Keen for any feedback you have on the pandan! Thanks again for the support.

          Jay

    • +2

IMO the coconut ice cream doesn't work well in a shake…

But it's excellent with yoghurt. 3 tbsp yoghurt - 1 scoop protein.

If you still have some left, try it!

      • Good idea - nah I just chugged it each time. Was less frothy with water I felt. Prob not great for digestion haha

    • +1

I had the exact same experience. It froths alot too. I just put up with it, almost finished it. Hopefully other flavours are better. Keen to try matcha and pandan coconut, just got 3 other bags to finish first…

      • Thanks for this feedback @EchoNoob and @SirDangles

I will pass this along to the team, this is very valuable so we can continue to improve the range. But of course if you're particularly unhappy with anything please feel free to message Vanessa, we can always send you an alternative flavour (at our expense).

        Jay

      • +1

Try the taro, its amazing! Just like bubble tea!

    • haha damn. I ordered the coconut icecream over a month ago and havent opened it yet so don't qualify for their satisfaction guarantee.

      • i mean..its definitely drinkable. just foamy/clumpy unlike the others

  • +5

Highly recommend the Matcha Green Tea ice cream flavour. Great with water, even better with milk!

    • Awesome, very fitting for your handle @SuperGreen :)

Thanks for the support of the brand!

      Jay

  • How does it compare to Mushashi 100 whey in terms of quality and taste?

    • +4

      Thanks for asking. @BargainBuddy

This is a very common question that we get asked, I think the last 4-5 deals we have run have had people curious about this.

For that reason, I had our team put together a video comparing our range to the Musashi 100% Whey here

We don't compare the flavour, though I'm sure others will be able to comment on this.

Note - we do sell this product too and we do have a vested interest in our own brand. But we have tried to keep this as objective as possible to outline some key facts about each of these products. I hope it's of help.

      Jay

    • +1

I really hated the chocolate flavour for Musashi. Amino Z was much better. Amino Z also mixed a lot better too.

      • Thanks for sharing and I am so happy to read that you've been impressed with our protein. I'll share this with the team, they will be chuffed!

        Jay

  • Thanks! Been waiting for a new OzB deal to come up. I love Pandan so can't wait to try the new protein flavour! Used my ClubZ credit to pay for it too. :)

Keep up the good work and glad to support an Aussie business.

    • Nice one, thank you so much @Shads

Please let us know your feedback on the pandan, it's a flavour I was super excited about.

I really appreciate the support (of this deal, but also as an ongoing customer). Thanks again!

      Jay

  • Just ordered. was running low for protein so perfect timing.

    • Thanks again for the support @FiDad!

      Jay

  • Thanks for bringing the deal back!

Any suggestions for flavours that aren't overly sweet or "strong"? I have a sensitive stomach and some supps make me feel ill from the intense flavourings they use.

On suggestion last time I tried the strawberry, banana, iced coffee flavours and they all went down pretty well.

    • +1

I'd avoid creme caramel or cinnamon icing which are a bit on the sweeter side. The matcha isn't too sweet as it's offset by the matcha flavour similarly to the iced coffee. However if you've been fine with those other flavours, all the others will have comparable degrees of sweetness.

I hope this helps and thanks again for the support @SKobb

I'm still working through my last 4 kg order. How often are people taking protein powder to use 4 kg up quickly?

    • +1

3 scoop a day will use almost 1kg in 11 days. So 4kg in 44 days aka 1.5 months if you are regular with intake and exercise

    • +1

I know, right?! But then again i have no idea what I'm supposed to be doing on the nutrition side of things. I'm having 1 scoop after every workout, maybe i should double it on a daily basis, but keeping in mind of the cap of muscle protein synthesis? (Off topic, sorry about that everyone!)

      • +1

I use to have a similar mindset (i.e. protein was only for recovery after workouts to aim muscle growth and help with recovery/minimise soreness).

Have recently returned to the gym and they had a Challenge recently that included nutritional plans, so depending on your goals, protein powder provided loads of benefits if you wanted to lose weight, put on muscle, put on mass, maintain leanness…..etc. So with a proper nutritional plan with the macro-nutrients laid out, I was adding protein to yoghurts, oats, to slices/bars, with milk as a shake snack so churned through it more than I normally would. It was to help keep fuller for longer (satiety) so to keep cravings down and junking on poorer nutritional food.

It's in a more convenient form that raw eggs (which I recently is a bit of a myth), eating heaps of red meats, etc. etc.

So yeah I thought my 4kg would last until October/November, but my protein intake has increase, and the misso has surprisingly joined me in the gym/nutritional journey so she's been nibbling away at my stash too.

I'll definitely be jumping on this deal. I've really liked the product so far.

        Hope that helps.

        • the raw eggs is an interesting thing i should chekc about.
          just starting out..
..i was looking at fitness supplements tier list and should probably grab a creatine too..

          • @capslock janitor: Yep creatine is pretty critical if you're working out and exercising regularly and want to optimise your efforts.

I have a Pre Workout on hand (the amino Z lemon/lime) for those days I'm feeling flat and need a little buzz.

I looked into BCAA's but I'm not too sore from DOMS as much so haven't got some yet….maybe.

      • 0.8 -1g protein per pound of goal weight seems to be the max anyone could possibly need.

E.g. if your goal weight is 150 pounds (68kg), you should take in approx 120 - 150g protein a day.

IMO this seems to be the max needed, meant for people entering competitions or shows. I personally think 0.4 - 0.8g is enough if you're just casually working out and slowly progressing in weights.

        • -2

"0.8 -1g protein per pound of goal weight seems to be the max anyone could possibly need"

          No

        • "IMO"? "I personally think"? Based on what? There's many recent studies to the contrary. The old daily recommended protein amount is too low, even if you're not very active. If you work out regularly, 2 - 2.2g of your target body weight is a good reference.

      • To keep it simple, 2g protein/kg of body weight for muscle growth + gym. Then the rest of the calories can be allocated to carbs and fats, up to the calorie goal. I'd highly recommend counting calories just to see what you eat and how that impacts your caloric intake. 2g/kg body weight is on the excess side but it's easier to under eat protein so if you couldn't eat enough protein that one day, it won't be the end of the world.

    • I'm pretty lazy with protein intake so I have 2 weighed servings a day (around 80g roughly). I think that's roughly 1.5 scoops.

    • +2

Yeah I don't know why people think they need so much protein unless they are on anabolics.
I use 40g of WPI and still hit 170-180g of protein in total. My nutrition is pretty strict though.

      • Care to elaborate?

        • +4

A lot of people have an obsession of eating more and more protein, despite there being a limit to the amount your body can actually use for building muscle at any one time.

I've also known several people who consumed more in a day than studies show extreme athletes need but still felt they needed more and more.

Unless you're undertaking extreme exercise, you can get the majority of protein you need from a healthy diet, with protein shakes ideally being a handy top up as opposed to your primary source. In fact, I reached my peak on a vegetarian diet with no protein supplements at all (I wasn't actually interested in gaining muscle - just trained with a friend who was).

Not everyone has the motivation/ability to get enough from food though, so please don't read this as if I'm preaching! Everyone's different, do what's best for you.

I've overlapped some of these deals with some bags remaining, if it helps you can look up some actual recipes that use protein powder to justify jumping in on this deal.

I make some protein pancakes myself now and then with the excess :)

      • +1

I mix a lot of my protein with yoghurts and oats and vary the recipe to mix things up.

I'm sure Amino Z have a recipe page, but I've got this as a reference in my notes once I'm off the recent meal plan the misso has me on.

        • Recipes are something we really need to work on, I'm afraid we don't really have much here presently (although we've posted up a few on our socials in the past).

There are some awesome recipe websites out there though.

    • Depends on how much protein you take from your usual food. For me a 2kg lasts for a month or two.

  • +1

Hi Jay, I just ordered 5kg and 1kg of creatine on Friday. Is there any chance of having the Z points applied retroactively?

    Cheers

    • Thanks for ordering recently @aymoski

Please shoot over a message to us on here with your order details, Vanessa will look after you :)

The taste of aussie choc malt was terrible. such a crap after taste. Couldn't drink it, utterly wasted. Hard to dissolve in water as well, ended up being crumbs.

    • +1

I'm guessing this was the old version? We completely reformulated this - this is the new version we only just released.

The old version had stevia which caused that aftertaste. We've eliminated that and changed the flavour profile too.

If you like, give it another go, and it will be backed up by our 110% Guarantee.

But also for that last order we're happy to honour our 110% Guarantee on it if you really didn't like it that much. Please PM us and Vanessa will look after you.

Thanks for the feedback too, it is greatly appreciated and is the only way we can improve.

Thank you, I really appreciate your detailed feedback. I wasn't sure if I was able to follow up on previous order after opening the package.

        • No worries @huzefa-oz

Vanessa is a superstar, she will make sure you're happy. Thanks as always for that feedback and I'll highlight this to her.

      • Aaah this might explain the creme caramel aftertaste i bought ages ago and im struggling with, it put me off aminoz but im a sucker for taro and bought a batch and im glad i did!! Im back on the aminoz bandwagon haha

    • I couldn't take their Aussie Choc Malt (early this year version) too. Ordered 2kgs of them and returned one. Gave them feedback about them.

I then try their Iced coffee and Neapolitan Ice cream. They're both tasty and not too sweet.

      • Thanks for sharing and thanks for the feedback on the older version of the Aussie Choc Malt. I am glad you were happy with the newer flavours and of course if there is ever an issue, please don't hesitate to reach out to our team.

        Thanks for the support @zkool

Glad to hear others had similar feedback. I've been blending my Amino Z with ON because i can't stand the taste. It doesn't shake up well + stays lumpy, and tastes awful

Positive to hear the recipe was changed

@jellykingdom please feel free to send a message to Vanessa on Ozbargain (just PM this account) and we'll be happy to send a replacement if you're stuck on the old formulation that you didn't like.

        • +1

i just might do that, thanks. i have 2x1kg bags left still, and wasn't really looking fwd to finishing them

          • @jellykingdom: No worries @jellykingdom - I'll give Vanessa a heads up.

            Jay

      • I also didn't like the old choc malt (I love ON choc malt so had high hopes). Jay and Vanessa sorted me out with an exchange tho, and I have to say the smooth milk choc is good, and I really enjoyed the Coffs Harbour choc banana.

Will be sure to give the new choc malt flavour a whirl next time.
