Budget Double Mattress Reccomendations - $500-600

Need to decide asap on whether or not to pull the trigger as I have a limited window to add something to a basic-essentials loan.
I've been sleeping on the floor for a while now which was an improvement over the cheap mattress that came with a furnished place, as I'd wake up with compounded back issues if not a completely thrown-out back. So I'm looking for firmer/supportive instead of soft and pillowy.

Currently I'm looking at the Newentor Hybrid mattress, Onebed Original, Noa, and ZZZ Atelier Black Label, though I've seen a few iffy reviews on the zzz.

Not a ton of wiggle room right now, and not that desperate to make the switch, but it would be nice.
Hassle-free returns are a very big plus. Cheers

So you've ruled out Emma, Ecosa, Sleeping Duck, Koala, Origin, Noa, Macoda, Naptime, Et al?

    • I've ruled out Koala and Ecosa, Emma was acknowledged but not very often or positively mentioned enough for me to dwell on it, and Sleeping Duck is well over the budget. I haven't heard the others mentioned, and I've done a lot of trawling

With more digging I've included the Noa in my finalists for right now though

      • At the risk of offering unwelcome financial advice, you could get something like this for $300

        • For the purpose of adding something onto my NILS loan it has to be new & warrantied, though I did check with the Salvos to see if there were any banger deals after learning most of these bed-box stores donate to there specifically and are only accepted as like-new. Alas

          • @zwolf: It's the kind of purchase you should be able to cash flow, perhaps not add to a personal loan.

  • I've had mattresses that cost thousands, I've tried those "in a box" mattresses that people have recommended.

I ended up randomly trying this mattress:
    https://focusonfurniture.com.au/myzone-essential-medium-matt…

And have not looked back. I'm quite tall and have had back problems in the past. Since using this I never wake up sore. I also got this for my son who was also waking up sore on his previous mattresses, since buying this for him, hasn't complained once.

    • Thanks for the suggestion and insight, I'll give it a closer look
edit: the price is on the money, but another $140 for delivery and an iffy returns policy rules it out for me unfortunately

  • Ikea is okay if you like a soft mattress. They also sell fitted sheets that fit.

  • Is going in to a forty winks etc and finding a better quality mattress on discount not an option? Surely better than the in the box mattresses?

It's the no-cost, no-questions-asked pickup & refunds that stands out for me. I'm starting to think to hell with it and sticking to the floor however -_-

  • I recommend makin mattresses

  • been sleeping on Aldi mattress in a box. awesome sleep

  • Anything that comes rolled up will have bugger all support, particularly at the edges. A traditional Australian made Bonnell coil will be firmer and last longer than fully imported stuff.
