Better than Prime Day deal on this legendary microphone.

Saw a used SM7B on Facebook marketplace today instantly sold for $400 and my $350 offer fell short. Would rather pay this price brand new with local warranty.

Now need to find a decent audio interface and boom arm.

  • $515?

Are you Shure this belongs here?

    • -1

I'm Shure the one they use in the radio stations are a lot more expensive.

  • Is it good for recording music? Or just good for podcasts?

    • Ask Michael Jackson, Chris Martin, Bob Dylan and many others…

      • Who are they?

        • +3

They are all dead for shure

          • @xenoic: I still want to live so I'll shureley avoid this product then thanks.

    • Every music producer I know owns one or more of these.

  • Maybe someone who streams for a living could make good use of this microphone?

  • +8

Fantastic price for a fantastic microphone. But you should only buy this if you’re serious about your vocals and already somewhat established in the streaming or content creation space. There are many cheaper alternatives for starters.

This is a great Mic however you may need to invest in a Cloudlifter or similar to boost the gain. (This may or may not be a requirement if your interface can provide the necessary gain but probably check around and see what other interfaces people are using with this mic).

  • +1

great mic, still need some sort of fethead to realise its full potential.

    • Depends on which AI you're running

  • Bought the Elgato Wave XLR couple of days ago so it’s perfectly timed.

I’ll be replacing my Shure MV7 with this and hopefully will hear some difference.

  • Ah, the Ludwig mic. Just need to pair this with a Rode PSA1.

  • Such an overkill, but I'm tempted to get one for WFH and use it with MVX2U as the audio interface

  • Goes under $460 if patient.

      fakes

      • From Amazon. How can it be fake?

        • +1

          SO easily

          • @mickeyjuiceman: From Amazon directly? Not a third party seller.

            • @FizzBalls: It's gone under $460 ONE period of time from Amazon, the other times were from 3rd party sellers, and this item has a LONG history of fakes. Taking advice like this is an excellent way to never get an SM7B.

  • no need for anything more than something like a Behringer XM8500 unless you are in a professional setting

    • +1

Lol even then, unless you have someone who really knows their audio and have the room sound treated, the differences between the mics are not that big. Just make sure it's not a condenser mic and you'll be fine.

    • I like a simple decent mic setup for my PC. I was thinking if smv7 but maybe I could hook something up for something cheaper

      • +1

Good mics can be had for very little money these days, most people don't need anything like this.

    • XM8500 but it sounds very different.
