Boost SIM Activation Error

Has anyone recently activated Boost SIM using https://prepaid.activate.boost.com.au/ ?

Trying to activate one ($200 / 365 days) for few days now and always getting "Something went wrong, We're unable to process the request at this time. Please try again later" error at the last step, after email and address page.
Trying to port from Kogan eSIM if that matters. Selected as prepaid and tried with both "other" -> "kogan" and "Vodaphone"

Tried with different devices, browsers and internet connections and getting same error. Couldn't contact customer service as out of working hours.

EDIT (Solution) : looks like a weird issue, just tried with Au passport instead of license, it worked some how :/

  • looks like a weird issue, just tried with Au passport instead of license, it worked some how :/

  • I am having the same issue with porting from Optus sim only plan to Telstra yearly pre-paid when using drivers license. Let me try this out with the passport this time

    • did it work?

      • Passport worked

  • I had issues activating my boost sim as well last week. It didn't like my driver's licence. I closed my browser and restarted the activation process with the exact details, and it went through after that. Weird, probably a momentary glitch.

  • I get this error everytime. I get around it by choosing the existing customer option and logging in with my Telstra account.

    • It seems to be the issue of Victorian License.

When I try using my Medicare card that also fails. The only thing that works for me is passport.

Thank you so much for the passport tip! Worked perfectly and activation after that only took a few mins. I was dreading trying to ring them…

When I first tried with the drivers licence, everything went through as verified but then I got the Oops sorry page like the OP. Anyway, most grateful.

    • glad it helped :) I was getting the same page with licence

Thank you so much for creating this topic! It helped me too. Passport works.

Thank You! I asked in webchat after activating through that why it failed and got nothing from them, and then I see this thread…. IF ONLY THE ERROR MESSAGE WAS USEFUL!! why are tech companies using these vague useless error messages!?

I used medicare card and it worked. After not working with drivers multiple times.

    • I was confused too because it said licence was verified at the ID verify stage.

  • Does Boost have technical issue like data? I don't have usage amount since yesterday. It stopped updating.

Suppose to get free data txt and calls till telstra fix something on their end. I don't have any credit on mine and everything is working.

      • Yes, just use the data on an expired SIM and it is working!

It can be a temporary epic deal/hack!

  • Not sure what's going on however I am never able to activate a boost sim by myself. Have tried all forms of ID and every time at the final stage of activation it comes up with an error message and I have to once again contact Boost support to activate on my behalf. They have no answer for why this happens

    • have you tried with Aus passport ? if not do you have super long name/multiple middle names like me lol. I couldn't even open ING bank account without going to Auspost.

  • Thanks for your reply, I will give the passport a go instead when the new Boost sims arrive this week 👍

  • I haven't been able to activate any via the normal online way for a couple of months now.

Have been contacting their chat each time, have been told a few reasons/excuses but basically the majority of them said something like this: If you're an existing boost id user with at least one active service then they make you do it via chat because of increased security measures. The "oops sorry something went wrong" error is just a red herring.

My take on it is to slow down and annoy us.

I bought a few a month ago on a previous deal and had to activate them all on one day. I was told various stories about only being able to activate 3 per day (or another told me it was a max of 4 per half hour, go figure). Not sure who I believe because the story I get each time is different. So just a warning to those who've managed to buy many, don't leave it to the last day to activate them all because there might be a daily limit that gets enforced.

  • Boost is absolute crap when it comes to Sim Activation. It always fails in the last step as OP mentioned. Have tried DL and Medicare. This is has been a bug for almost a year now and yet hasn't been fixed. Seems like they intentionally don't want to fix it. And their customer care number is utter rubbish. Have been waiting for 30 mins and hasn't been put through to an agent yet.

  • I think i've worked out whats happening with this shit website - some genius in the development side has marked the field name for "Expiry date" for the Passport/Driver's license section as the same name as the "Expiry Date" for the credit card. which means when are entering info its populating both.

I don't know how to upload images - but sent it on to their team - hopefully they sort this mess out.

I am not sure it is the case, I had no issues with using the licence but my wife had to use passport. We didn't even had to enter credit card details as I remember (as we are using prepaid sim cards anyway)

  • one rep told me that the ID is linked to specific email account. but even after logging in my multiple boost mobile accounts to activate new sim packs with multiple id forms it never works i always get the same technical error at the last step. i wonder if its the settings on my gateway modem eero blocking it ie dns or vpn settings? i got no choice to call up to activate it now days its time consuming and very annoying.

  • how the hell do we activate it if there is no customer service??

  • Had same problem, and resolved it by turning on Third-party cookies in the browser settings and turned off all the extensions in Chrome. Good luck

I had the same problem, using Opera and drivers license.
I installed a fresh firefox (no extensions, no cookies etc)
Redid the procedure with driver license.
    It worked without error
