Disable Wi-Fi Calling in Android 8?

I have a Samsung Galaxy A5 2017 and the wifi calling feature is always activated. I can't find any option to disable, have searched the internet but no joy. The option just isn't there for me. How can this be done?

  • Setting - Mobile network - SIM1/2 - WiFi Calling

I don't own a samsung phone, but for every Android Phone I had so far it's been in the same path.

    • Thanks but its not there.

  • If the above doesn't work you could try this, it's for your phone but an earlier version of Android:
    Press 'Phone'
    Press the 3 vertical dots
    Select 'Settings'
    Select Wi-Fi calling
    Slide button to Off

    • Not there sadly. There is no mention of wifi calling. Also searching in settings shows no results.

      • Do what the IT guys say, turn off both your phone and your modem/router then back on again & see if they forget each other.

Have you checked if you definitely have voice over wifi? If the option is not there, it generally means it's not supported by your carrier.

I'd turn it off just in case, nothing but trouble. You'd have to be using your phone in a bunker or something to get any real use out of it.

I find it handy when overseas with Boost. When connected to Wi Fi, my phone works as if I am in Australia.

      • Or Forrestdale/Oakford, Western Australia.

Without Wi-Fi calling I can only ever keep my phone in one single spot in my house. And even then I have to be careful not to move when answering it. I'm with Telstra but reception here is horrible. Has been since 1997 - at least 10 or so phones all the same issues.

Wi-Fi calling has actually saved me, so although I get where you're coming from, I'm very much KISS, be aware not everyone is in the same situation as you. Nothing to do with living in a bunker.

        :)

      • Why do you need to turn it off? It’s on iOS and I’ve never had issues.

  • From GS.VoN on Whirlpool

Install and configure Shizuku (you'll need to start it manually on each boot since for non root)
    Install from here:
    https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=moe.shizuku.pr…

Configure using guide (ADB Wireless Debugging method) from here
    https://shizuku.rikka.app/guide/setup/#start-via-wireless-de…

Install and toggle VoWiFi in the PixelIMS app from here after granting the app permission to use Shizuku: https://github.com/kyujin-cho/pixel-volte-patch/releases/tag…

Go into your SIM card manager, and you'll see the VoWiFi option/toggle.

  • Turn off VoLTE.

VoLTE and Wifi Calling go hand in hand. The phone considers wifi to be a better “path” over LTE so if your phone is connected to wifi and has VoLTE on, it will show up as Wifi Calling

  • Perhaps your phone cannot connect to a cell service, turn your phone off, remove your SIM card & replace, then turn back on.
Is your phone bill paid up to date :-)

  • Depending on your carrier they can disable it in your account for you worst comes to worst.

  • Have you resolved the issue?
If so what was the solution?
