Cyber Revolution Opinion for Entry Level Job

What is your opinion on this training company to get an entry level job in cyber security? I don't know what the cost is, but there are plenty of places to do free training. Is it easy enough to get into it without paying a tutor?

umm, I saw it on facebook, clicked on it and then it shows a whole bunch of reasons why it's the best way to get into cyber security

I'm not really sure cyber security is the right field of work for you.

Looking at the website it seems like they give you access to some course content on Percipio, which I have used before and it kind of sucks, and then you can take a CompTIA course. Looks like an expensive way to get a very entry level certification. I think they are just targeting people who have heard cyber security pays well, but have no idea.

I think you would be better off getting an entry level IT job. Do some research and find an IT Security certification that is popular and pretty easy and then pay a few bucks for training on a site like Pluralsight, CBT Nuggets etc. You don't need a tutor to get any IT certification, it just takes work.

Thank you, yes it seems that they are saying that they have direct connections with employers that will hire you straight away. They are saying there are thousands of positions available right now and if you train through us, then you have a 98% chance of getting a job paying $100,000 (entry level). I am not sure how linked in you need to be to get the position, but the courses are available already for free. They are selling inflated tutoring courses, with the added bonus of their inside connections.

I doubt they have inside connections. They probably just forward details on to employees and get some people entry level jobs. They may be even earning a commission in the process.

then you have a 98% chance of getting a job paying $100,000 (entry level).

Huge 🚩🚩. No one is paying $100k for someone with no experience and a CompTIA certificate.

        • yahh, but it's $100k after the training through them, mmmm dunno if there is another way, study for free, and then try to apply "as a random" in a massive pool of applicants, seems more risky.

@9hundred: You are not getting a $100k job without experience, not going to happen, but it is your money to waste.

      • They just want your money by convincing you to enrolling into the course. These kinds of offers either must be provided in writing or it is almost certain that you will not find employment they are promising after the course. This trick is decades old now.

      • Yes there are lots of cyber roles but not very many at entry level (nor paying $100k).

        • Hmmm, this company called Cyber Revolution says that they specialise in job placement and that is their advantage. $100,000 starting, that is in all their ads.

          • +1

@9hundred: You seem gullible enough and will fit right in the management, project or or system architecture space.

            @9hundred: I have a bridge for sale.

          • @9hundred: Have you actually looked at their website? If you do the “Cyber Starter” course, the type of jobs you will get into are mainly IT service desk roles, not security.
For this course, they list ⬇️ which is so misleading.
            Job vacancies 20,000 jobs
            Salary range $55,000 – $115,000

      • If you could get 100 k for doing a certificate, most of us with phds would be your classmates.

Isn't Cyber security part of the Gov free TAFE courses?

    • +1
      • Now would that be considered as an Ozbargain?

        • +3

No, the content is already available online for free. Why waste travel, time and energy ?

You could try some stuff for free. tryhackme has some free stuff you could try out to get a taste. And you could just self-study for CompTIA's certifications and pay for the exams yourself (but do note, they are very entry-level certifications).

  • I found a better certificate that promises more starting pay and is highly industry-recognised certificate, and will guarantee you a job or they will pay you a week's salary.

But you need to hurry - they have an offer on atm that expires at the end of the week.

I'm gonna study for free and then get a job easy, but good joke anyway yeah.

OP, if you're really interested about Cybersecurity as a career path.
I would suggest you look into CyberCX Academy instead of these programs that "guarantees" employment.

  • They have an interesting podcast where they interview the people they've trained and placed.

I've just started listening to it - https://open.spotify.com/show/1pB7j7GErR9fLRkvYpMKHS?si=d759…

I don't think free training with no help will get you anywhere, I'm not sure how much these guys charge.

  • All these newbs wanting to start their career in Cyber…reminds me of Excom Express IT, how it promises the big bucks with SFA effort.
