I was looking for a powerbank for my laptop and found this. Should be safe to take onto a plane as it is <100 Wh

  • 2-in-1 fast charging: with a total power of 65 W and two USB ports, the power bank allows you to quickly charge two current-intensive devices simultaneously. (Note: USB-C 1 has a maximum power of 45W, while USB-C 2 has a maximum power of 20W).
  • 30 W high-speed recharging: a full charge of the power bank takes only 3.5 hours - half the length of a conventional power bank.
  • Versatile possibilities: the Anker 537 power bank charges laptops, phones, tablets and a variety of USB devices as quickly as possible.
  • Large capacity: 24,000 mAh provides enough energy for about one MacBook Pro charge and at least 4.8 charges for the iPhone 13 Pro - ideal for taking with you on the go or a weekend trip.
  • Box contents: Anker 537 power bank (PowerCore 24K for laptop), carry case, manual (English language not guaranteed).

  • I should have bought this instead of my baseus 30,000mah. The USB-A ports are dodgy on mine they they claim that they are sending me a new one. At least I will have two now, USB-C port still works fine. Wonder how long the new one will last.

    • yeah blitzwolf and baseus now are not so good they just rebranding the cheap same items you see on aliexpress

  • I doubt that this powerbank can charge laptop as it has 45w and 20w ports. I believe that most of laptop needs more than 45w.

Yeah shame it can't do 65w in one port.

  • Please forgive my ignorance, but with these things (assuming they are powerful enough to charge your laptop), how do you even hook it up to a laptop to charge/run it?

Laptops don't charge via a USB port. Do you need to buy in your own 'connectors'/adapters/cords, or what?

Laptops don't charge via a USB port.

Not all laptops do but most recent laptops can charge via usb c.

    • I have a personal HP Envy and a Dell Latitude for work and both of them dock via USB C, meaning that they can both charge and display video simultaneously from a single USB C port.

This is the standard now. Even MacBooks charge over USB C.

    • Laptops don't charge via a USB port.

Many laptops do charge by USB-C ports, yes.

  • Thanks for the heads up all. I guess me and my prehistoric/non-USBc-containing laptops will not be doing any charging via powerbank. Due to frequent OS travel though, this is reason enough for me to buy a new low-end laptop so that I can work on the plane (only requires the use of MS Office programs, nothing demanding).

So, as long as I buy one that has a USBc port and runs on 65W or less, I should be OK to use a powerbank of sufficient capacity to power it on the plane?

To be sure. Bring powerbank to computer shop and plug it it in.

I do a battery roundup every year, in my testing these cannot do sustained 65w, they heat up a bit and dip around. Overall they are better than most banks, but due to the low power output, poor efficiency, typically annoying negotiation process for PD/QC in most batteries, As usual, they switch out and have no consistency in the cells they use, I found these to be closer to 19,000mAh.

Given you are spending in the $100 range, for the best bank money can buy instead I’d recommend just getting a zmi no20 instead for around $140 on aliexpress or $170 on Amazon (often on sale for less than $140 if you are patient)
