This is a posable, Master-Grade injection-plastic kit of an item from the Gundam universe.

MGEX, the high-end brand renowned for its extreme expression in bringing MS Gundam to life, expands its line with the new Strike Freedom Gundam. The theme of this kit is the highest “metallic expression” in Gunpla history! Three types of special processing, two types of metallic moulding, and etching stickers are used in a total of six patterns to express the metallic feel of the internal frame. Gaps in the armour pieces and the use of red clear parts also help to emphasize the internal frame. Movable and equipped with a wide variety of optional weapons, this kit is simply a must-have for any fan and collector.

Great price but it is definitely still an MGEX (Master Grade EXpensive).

One the best 1/100 out there, very detailed and complex with lots of interconnection joints. It has many different types of "gold" parts, some of which are chromed and can be quite easily damaged if you don't know what you are doing, definitely want some good nippers (God Hand Nippers) and skills for nub removal. Personally wouldn't recommend for beginners, but definitely a kit to collect.

I just completed MG Hyakushiki 2.0 as pretty much a beginner and that was a challenge. Scratched a few gold plated pieces (mostly by accident), but I'm glad that it still looks amazing

I'll order this one, as I really enjoy the 1/100 size and this one does look good too. Got plenty of time to change my mind about it too with Amazon.

Scratches makes it look like it's been in battle. ;)

  • Got this from Metro Hobbies for $235 last year. Great price!

  • Picked this up, thanks OP!

  • It's gorgeous

  • Very good price. Thanks op!

  • I had this on pre order since June for $214. Original release date was end of June at the time, then no update on the release date until now.

Not necessarily a crazy price, appears to be just 10% off market price with free Amazon shipping.

Still, as an avid G-Seed fan heck yeah I'll buy one.

    • Yeah a lot of the good Amazon Gundam deals lately were pretty comparable to their converted price. This set though is around $150 AUD.

  • beautiful figure, long time builder, still a bit miffed that they refuse to chrome plate the majority of these kits despite the prices.

    • The reason why majority of the pieces are not chrome gold plated is because chrome bits come off very easily on plastic, especially at the friction points. Due to the chroming process, chromed pieces are also significant more brittle than usual, so if the there are too many gold plated pieces things will break very easily, and posing the kit scar and snap the chrome bits. Only the Tamashii Nation metal build stuff are can properly hold the gold plating at the joints without damage.

The RG has chrome, and it looks fine.

        • +1

The MGEX has a lot of chrome and other gold colour techniques as well (5 shades of "gold" from what I recall). People were just expecting the entire thing to be gold chrome (because if its price). The RG Strike Freedom is well known for being floppy with "Early Real Grade Syndrome", thought might not be due to the chrome bits but I guess the MGEX is a compromise between durability vs looks, or maybe Bandai just want to make more money :)

          • +1

@Waiora: The rg chrome is only a portion of the wing, but it looks very nice. The nubs are covered by the rest of the wing so they are well hidden.

      • TIL…

i like to marker spray the gold bits. i know it's fundamentally a different technique, and i don't actually pose/re-pose them that much, but haven't noticed any wear with this

Would recommend picking up a gold Gundam marker or something, some ‘gold’ parts looks terrible almost like diarrhoea.

    • Doesn't help that painted gold parts have mould lines too

    • Akatsuki gundam fan detected

    • Just be careful using the marker on the inner frame. I managed to damage the plastic and wreck the elbow joint of my rg freedom with a marker.

Cheers. April preorder is far enough away I can order and not feel bad about adding another Gundam to my pile of shame.
Got about 4 hgs, 8 rgs and 1 pg that I should actually build.

  • I got one for $167 in Amazon before

New Gundam Seed Freedom movie is coming out after decades.

For old fans that didn't know!

i was going to get this, but now i'm no longer scared to talk to girls so i can leave my room now.

    • +1

The early generation of gunpla kit enthusiast are in their mid 30s & 40s now (probably with kids of their own), so being able to talk to girls doesn't mean you will abandon these plastic crack by Bandai. I do feel that eventually the people building these kits will be the same age as your average model train/military vehicle enthusiasts.

im just joking. but i do have a huge collection. i have slowed down now since i have the confidence to socialise with the opposite sex. all the time i use to have to build my collection has greatly diminished, i am always out and about now a days. probably will get back into again when i do get older and have a family like yourself.

  • If my memory serves me right, with $200 you could get a PG back years ago in Japan?

    • Kinda yes, they are still around $250 mark, some cheaper kits are just below 200 like exia, zeta. Their prices havent increased much, idt’s the shipping cost that went up

    • MGEX vs PG… hard to decide

    • I got the astray and s freedom for around 250 and 300 respectively from yodobashi back in 2014

    God Gundam is (profanity) cool

Went here expecting to see Gundam RX-78-2 but it had been dismantled just a month before we arrived :-(
Now there is a Unicorn Gundam in its place.

    • The unicorn gundam has been there for near six years now.

      • Yes. My story is from 2017.

    • I think you meant Gundam Factory Yokohama?
      https://maps.app.goo.gl/aZQHsr69Js2StPkH8?g_st=ic

      • Yokohama has the RX-78-2 since it opened in 2020. There's been no change.

      • No. Odaiba in Tokyo.

    • Isn't it back to an rx78? All the pictures seem to suggest it's gone back?

      • +1

Odaiba has the Unicorn since it replaced an old RX-78-2 in 2017, and Yokohama has the new moving RX-78-2 since it opened in 2020.

        • Cheers. Didn't realise there were two.

  • why my price is 288?

    • That has Amazon US as the seller, the original listing with Amazon AU as the seller has disappeared so may be presold out.

  • Anyone received the order? My order is showing 'notify when avaliable '

    • This was a pre-order for mid-April 2024.

At least that's what my order shows.

      • Thx mate
