Zigbee power monitoring plug suggestions

Hi guys,

Can anyone provide suggestions on the best Zigbee power monitoring smart plugs? Ideally, plugs which are small enough such that 2 can be used in a double GPO. I've tried the 16A plugs (https://imgur.com/rNXbtDO) but there's a known bug with them where they repeatedly report 0W despite there being a constant load on the plug (https://github.com/Koenkk/zigbee2mqtt/issues/13246).

Looking for Australian plugs which work properly and was hoping some people on here have had luck with other Zigbee smart plugs.

  • Xiaomi ones work. I have some.

    • Do you have a link to them and are they zigbee?

  • I have a bunch of different ones using zigbee2mqtt, but it depends on the load you are putting on them. I have found most of them die under constant high load within 12 months, but low load seems fine. I found a bunch of these (https://zigbee.blakadder.com/Sercomm_SZ-ESW01-AU.html) on ebay and they work pretty well, otherwise the xiaomi one that @kiwijunglist is referring to is probably this one (https://zigbee.blakadder.com/Xiaomi_ZNCZ02LM.html). I have a few of those and they work well too.

    • Thanks for the recommendations. Those other plugs are quite expensive at $35 each, the allure of the 16A Tuya plugs were their price point. Regarding loads, I was attempting to measure a NUC PC with a 10-15W load. It's not the load on these that's causing the issue, if you have a read through the various discussion threads on the zigbee2mqtt github, you'll see that there's some kind of bug where the plug reports a 0W load frequently. Maybe it will be fixed in a firmware update at a later date. I'll keep looking.

      • I think I got my sercomm ones for about $20 each, but it adds up fast if you need a few of them. FWIW I checked home assistant for both the plugs I referenced and neither of them have reported 0w at all when there is a constant load.
