Alternatively you can sign up and refund within 12 months. Won't be able to sign up again for 12 months after this.
Go on the non-member day and buy multiple gift cards so you can go back multiple times.. that could be an idea

@jimojr: i know you can use the gift card (thats what i do), but i don't think they would let non members buy a gift card
or just ask a friend who's a member and you don't have to deal with the crowds

@Charbel91: Start by buying membership, then buy multiple gift cards, then cancel membership end. Gift cards should last at least 3 years. But after 12 months you can go back to the start, and repeat.

Yes you can. I did it at the Auburn store.
Right..So we should just buy some gift cards with small denominations and use them in place of the membership card.. probably suits someone who probably only visits there twice a year.
@victorheaven: Correct. I got a family member buying me gift cards to allow me access and to buy whatever I want. I don't need to go to Costco regularly so it works for me.
@victorheaven: Yep, I do the same. Think minimum is $25, that’s what I get. Most of the time the cashier says need to use gift card first and then remainder with whatever, but I have been able to just use my credit card for the whole payment
If the membership expired, can we still using the barcode for fuel? Just wondering if anyone has tried this?
I went last time they had the non-member day, it didn't seem too crazy. I mean we did go at 5pm, and it wasn't exactly quiet but wasn't nuts

Get the membership mate. You would easily save $65 worth of items over a year even being 2 members family.
I was just joking. I was a member,but it expired this year. They did send me an offer to renew and that they'll give me a $20 shop card.

One other hack is to watch out for freebies when you need to enable membership auto renew and you get something fancy.

@eediot: They sometimes do their promotion for this. Just keep an eye when visiting store. Either at entrance or at exit they would put some sign board for this. Get Costco app downloaded and login to manage membership renewable easily. Show them to get your free stuff.
Once I got tumbler. And this time Costco Executive cooler bag (though this was for Executive member only). Cheers.

How do you find out about these free days (aside from here on Ozbargain)? There's nothing on the Costco website or Facebook page. I've been expecting the new Gold Coast store to have a free day soon.

@Charbel91: Thanks for that. I'm a member of the Costco Australia Members group, and there's no mention of the free shop day tomorrow at Casula. I just did a search and found 2 groups for the Gold Coast (Coomera) store, so have joined them.
I now understand how Bondi residents feel.
