Harvey Norman - Google Pixel 7 Pro - Warranty

Just wondering if anyone has dealt with Harvey Norman?

All of a sudden tonight, when my phone is resting the screen starts flickering green.

I googled this, and people have claimed it's a screen replacement issue. However, the issue came about again and it's a motherboard issue so many say.

Many people have said their replacement started doing it eventually too!

Apparently because I bought the phone in-store, I have to deal with the franchise store not online.

But I'm just wondering what I do if they ask to keep my phone and then I have no phone for literally weeks or a month?

People that have dealt with Google directly say google literally send them a replacement phone. However, I've never dealt with warranty from Harvey Norman.

Hopefully it stops, just started tonight out of nowhere. I rebooted, and happened straight away.

Thank you!

Lol, you should have read this forum before!

Gerry is a PROUD dog breeder and sort of has a status of not having to give his clients any warranty!

    • It's under 12 months.

I'm on chat to Google at the moment, see what they say :/

  • With standard exchange you'll send your device back to Google, and once your device is received and inspected, your replacement device will be shipped to you. With this exchange, it may take anywhere from 5-10 business days from start to finish.

It'll basically take me a few days to unload 150GB off this phone, and my old phone has a cracked screen. I'm using an E-Sim, so I would somehow have to request a new SIM if I can use my old phone? Otherwise I go without a phone for 2 weeks, which is basically impossible to do.

It's great they offer, but I'm surprised nowhere is local!

    See what happens.

    • It won't take a few days to unload 150GB (few hours maybe), but really you should have it backed up already, have cloud backups of your photos and whatever else. What would happen if your phone had died?

      • I don't like having stuff saved online.

I only swapped phones 6 months ago, so most of it is backed up.

Not true, consumer rights allow you to choose whether you deal with the retailer or the manufacturer. The retailer can not force you to deal with the manufacturer, and vice versa.

I think they mean Harvey Norman online/website chat for support/warranty discussions, being told they need to go and discuss it with the physical store they purchased it from.

I'd just go to Google warranty support direct and take any excuse possible not to visit a Harvey Norman store.

      • Actually they're happy to deal with me directly, thank god.

    • After speaking to Google chat, they were more than helpful.

I haven't had many warranty claims in my life, perhaps JB Hi-Fi with a PS5 controller which was easy and this time with Google has been super easy.

You can do an advanced exchange with google. They hold the pixel RRP on a credit card and send you a new one. When the faulty device is posted back and received by Google, the amount comes back onto your credit card.

    • Yes, I just woke up after 4 hours sleep and they've responded with this.

I'm happy for this, because at least I can do a phone to phone transfer!

The thought of unloading 150GB, then having to reinstalling everything is mental.

I googled the issue, and apparently it's happened alot! It's a little concerning, my old Pixel 2 XL lasted me 5 years with no issues.

Phones can have issues. Both my 2 and 4 had issues. So far my P6P is making it to the 2-year stage without any issues

        • Yeah, maybe I got lucky with my Pixel 2 XL.

Great phone, no issues! I even kept using it after I booked guy this phone.

          samsung user, never had issues.

  • Hope it was an authorised repair

    • I actually haven't had the screen replaced yet.

The scratch is very small, and totally unrelated.
I literally have a 3-4 mm scratch in the middle of the screen, and I could claim…so why wouldn't I? :)

If you google flickering screen issues, you'll find thousands of users who have had phones replaced. I believe that's why Google offer a replacement so quickly.

      • I literally have a 3-4 mm scratch in the middle of the screen

now I understand why people who understand the system simply lie or work around it

        • I never lied, when I made the claim I asked the insurance agent.

The scratch is rough, it does hinder scrolling and it's annoying.

I pay for insurance, or it's included in my card so I'm entitled to it.
You forget that the airport damaged my luggage, and insurance paid $0. I actually lost $230 there.

I didn't ask for my phone to start flipping out, the screen starts flashing green etc

I googled it, it's happened to hundreds if not thousands of people.

I didn't ask for a replacement, they offered me a replacement after I even offered to send videos.

They obviously charge my credit card, and hold of substantial amount of money. So you can't lie about this particular issue.

          • @[Deactivated]: so you damaged the screen? and its not faulty its just damaged? because your comment in your other thread says you dropped phone, saying same issue here with scrolling.

''The phone fell out of my jacket pocket while I was walking on the beach, it fell on rocks. My cover took the damage, then it scrapped the screen so I have red scrap marks through the middle which hinder scrolling and off course viewing. Yeah, STUPID to have it in my jacket pocket as I jumped down!

            But it was an accident.''

            your words, seems sus.

            • @Rukiata: I scratched the screen, how does a scratch on the screen cause an issue which is widely known with Google Pixel 7s?

There is literally thousands of people that have had this issue, and 99% of them don't have a scratch screen.

I scratched the screen in late May early June, Do you think Google would replace my phone if they thought a scratch on the screen caused my screen to flicker green?

I spoke to Google about this, it's a known issue!

You do realize, if my screen was flickering with my claim I could have claimed my whole phone? The phone store wanted to take my phone apart to check for internal damage (because they can make more money out of selling me a new phone I guess)

Please, people on here really need to stop. It's actually embarrassing.

People and here are acting, like I'm trying to get a freebie where I made a claim for the screen. I could have made a claim for the whole phone? I still paid the same excess.

I never tried to claim more than the actual damage.

              Just stop.
