I ordered the Audio-Technica M50X and the order was cancelled so I'm open for suggestions on better ones.
Starting out with music production at home and not looking to spend more than $300.
Thanks :)

OP is just starting out, it should be fine
If you were looking at the ATH-M50x, then the AKG K371 might be comparible
So when you say production, are you looking at it from a playing perspective, a recording, or a mixing and mastering perspective?
The main use will impact your choice.
This is a good overview of your options under 300…I don't necessarily agree with it because I come from more of an end product perspective - but welcome to the abyss :) your wallet can only get emptier from here :)

I got a Sennheiser HD25 sitting in the corner of my house, it's brand new, which I keep as a backup headphone.

HD25 should be the same level with M50X, maybe slightly better, it's not as bulky, based on personal preference.

I ended up buying Rode NTH100 and they are amazing. Super comfortable and great sound.
Sony MDR-7506 are widely used, but maybe too cheap for your needs?
