(SOLVED) iPhone Return at JB-Hi-Fi - What Are My Options?

Hi all,

My sister purchased an iPhone yesterday at JB-Hi-Fi outright (unsure of exact model) but upon getting home and attempting to set it up, realised it was the wrong amount of memory as she requires more.

The seal obviously has been broken but everything else including cabling, documentation, box etc. is in perfect condition. She's owned it for less than 12 hours…

Does she have a leg to stand on in terms of being able to return the device, pay the difference and get the higher memory model?

Thank you in advance to anyone sharing their insights.

Go the the Apple store, tell them the story and that she wants to upgrade to the 256GB model. They may allow her to trade the old model in at a premium price as good will.

Apple has no obligation whatsoever, let alone a policy to enact upon this if the phone was originally bought from another retailer.

      Case already solved anyway.

  • Sell it 10% off second hand.
Then buy 10% off discounted JBHIFI vouchers.
    Net neutral.

    • OP sister already used 10% off to buy the already discounted iPhone. I would assume she did. Otherwise everyone would just head straight to Apple Store.

Sell on marketplace for 10% off and fork out more money and suck it up. Lesson learned.

        No lesson learned.

JB came to the party and let her return it for a 256gb model and by paying the price difference.

        • NO WAY….

It’s a miracle. So let’s see next post with headline saying ‘can I return my unsealed activated Brand New iPhone ‘??

        Go figure what?

Doesn’t change the fact they had no legal or moral obligation to help

Go figure why they came to the party.

It would be great to see the OPs communications.

It would be great to know if the JB decision maker was aware of this thread.

It would be great to know if the OP is associated to JB.

  • Wouldn’t the phone storage size listed in the receipt too? This is all on the buyer, got so many chances to notice yet didn’t pick up.

If you need to save for a long time to buy an iphone then maybe you should reconsider if you can afford an iphone.

Plenty of other options out there for people with brains that don't want to be seen as just someone that owns an iphone.

  • When I bought my Google Pixel 7 Pro, I bought the 128GB and they gave me the 256GB.

I called the store five times over 2 weeks, no one ever got back to me so I simply kept the phone.

So I really don't understand how much of a loss it is, when Harvey Norman couldn't give a s*** that they gave me a model worth hundreds of dollars more?

when I saw the title I thought why didn't you buy it at the Apple store JB HIFI wants investors to think they are the largest most profitable gadget store but really they are a very mom-and-pop store mentality at heart. Large conglomerates are not petty over returns within a reasonable time. Only mom-and-pop stores are petty when it comes to returns because they are not big on 100% customer satisfaction more like 100% cash register satisfaction so there you go

Buy the same one at Apple. Return the opened one to Apple with the Apple receipt and return the new in box unit from Apple to JB with the JB receipt. Next time, check before you buy.

    • Won’t work… IMEI and Serial will be different.

Apple store monkeys don’t check this when you return, it’ll be fine. Worst case, you just return the apple one and you’re back to square one.

The other idea is buying off of amazon, who really don’t care what they get back in the box.

  • If memory serves correct, she would've been shown a checklist to determine it was the correct model, including size and colour stuff like that.
