What Do You Do When You Feel a Company Has Taken Advantage of You?

Recently had an interaction shopping online with a company where the T&C's were a little ambiguous and I feel like I got taken advantage of. As a result, I couldn't get a refund. Pretty frustrated.

What do you do to avoid this kind of thing? Practical steps? Mindset? A list of petty revenge items if you get screwed?

Doing your best Karen on google reviews can sometimes do wonders…

Unless you were in the wrong. In which case, suck it up, learn from and move on.

Reading the T+C is a good start. What is the actual reason you couldn't get a refund?

If it's a price error from a company, they have the right to amend the price(usually this is covered somewhere in their tncs), thus do not post a Karen google review which 2 people have from this price error post - https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/792500

T&C's don't override consumer rights. Assuming you didn't just change your mind you could always threaten ACCC/ACA/bikies.

the T&C's were a little ambiguous and I feel like I got taken advantage of.

I think the first thing you need to do is work out whether it's just a 'feeling' or whether you really have been 'taken advantage of' and whether whatever it is actually contravenes the laws.

Noone is going to be able to help with that unless you share more details about the situation.

  • Why don’t you post the T&Cs?

  • What do I do? just get on with life…

  • Revenge.

  • Terms and conditions are not a contract nor are they laws. Doesn't mean much as enforcement.

    Storytime OP plz

  • Judging by the lack of context, OP would be the type of person to post a picture of themselves in a hospital bed on social media.

    What do you do

Is 'make a new account on ozbargain, ask a vague question that provides no details on the issue meaning no one could provude any actual useful informative response, and then never comment or provide follow up info' an option?

I was going to make the obligatory “member since” comment, but their account is nearly 3 years old…

Change of refunds are totally up to the retailer…..

Post the reason for the return and the T&Cs of the store.
