Citi Prestige Annual Fee Waiver

Hi all,

Has anybody managed to get Citi to waive or reduce the annual fee on the Prestige card since the previous batch of sign up options? I don't really want to cancel the card but the full annual fee is a bit steep, so looking for options to reduce it.

I've tried calling and have been told no offers are available for my account.

Thanks!

  • How much have you spent per month using the card? I will try ask next time I think I spend a good amount per month (not including payall)

  • nope

  • +1

Used to give me 50% off each year. I used to spend more than $250K a year on the card though. What’s your spend?

I have also heard full waiver too. Suspect they were putting half a million and above on the card.

Most of us have switched to Amex now though.

    • amex seems less attractive now especially after Oct 2023 due to the less rewards points ratio.

I am thinking cancelling amex to citi prestige.

Is this the right move from your perspective?

  • Didn't even know this was a thing.

  • Usually better off cancelling then reapplying for the new points lol or promo that has 50% off

  • I've called them recently and managed to get 50% fee reduction for next year. I was prepared to close my card which I told them straight away. They advised that there were no offers on my account but suggested to do 50% fee reduction for next year for me as a "valued customer". Happy with that and will be keeping the card.

Considering I have PayAll setup into 2025 which brings in a lot of points and with that money going straight to home loan offset to save interest at ~6% the card is a keeper.

    • Hey Levgen, what number did you call/department? Hoping to do the same as you

The one on the card if I remember correctly.

  • This is quite a good card with a $350 annual fee and 20,000 points per month via payall (worth about $1000 a year at least).

Even at $700 annual fee I come out $300 ahead with payall, thats assuming I dont use priority pass, "4th night free" benefit etc. If I was regularly travelling through adelaide airport that priority pass would be worth it's weight in gold as you can visit multiple restaurants and pretty much always eat for free at the airport.

At the first renewal I was able to get it down to $350 but they have been insistent that it was a once off so at my second renewal they wont budge on getting it down. My payall arrangement takes me through to the third renewal so with a "profit" of $300 for the year i'll still go around for a 3rd year, but $700 annual fee still sucks.

    • Just thought i'd add to this that I tried clearing my balance (ie having a positive balance) and they still wouldn't budge on waiving the annual fee. I had heard in a few other forums that this sometimes works.
