  • That actually looks decent. Anyone care to comment on it vs Philips air fryer? Not that I'd imagine too many people have tried both.

    • I have Philips XXL smart sensor and welcome comments on this.

    • Most used appliance in the house.. teenage boys, quick and easy hot food after school. Grill is great. Air frying is quicker than our old kogan one. guess the only problem is it takes a bit of bench space.. a bit bulky to put away each time but ours in used almost daily so it stays out anyway

    • Never had a Philips air fryer, so can't compare. I had a generic 10L air fryer before and the upgrade to this was night and day.
I can say I really like the Foodi Smart, awesome for grill, good and easy controls.

    • Can't make a direct comparison, I got the smaller one from Kmart a little while back for $129 but love it. Grilling, have done steaks, chicken and corn cobs all come out great and air frying is many times better than my old generic air fryer (don't think it really got hot enough).

I’m watching this also but waiting hopefully for a repeat of $229 😜

Have not tried the Philips air fryer but have had one of these for about 9 months. It works great and we are very happy with it. The grilling is a great bonus, we use it for steaks, sausages, chicken and food always turns out great. We paid a lot less than $299 as we had an Ebay voucher from Ebay Plus so it was <$200. Likely still a reasonable purchase at this price. After all the use we have given ours it still looks like new.

I've also had one of these for a couple of months and highly recommend it. I mainly use the grill feature and using the in-built meat probe it cooks meat & chicken perfectly. Because the element is in the lid, there is not a lot of height with the lid down so you can't roast a whole chicken or larger piece of meat but that doesn't worry me. I will use it along with my air fryer to cook vegetables/potatoes.

      • Do you think someone could get rid of more traditional airfryer or would prefer both? Can this do everything a regular airfryer can do?

        • +2

This does have an air fryer feature, but you can only use one feature at a time so if grilling / baking etc, you can't air fry. It comes with 3 inserts, the baking tray which stays in all the time, and then you put the grilling or air fryer insert in the baking tray depending what you are doing with the unit.

  • Purchased for $300 off of the official Ninja website about 6 months ago (still $300 on there as of writing this), fantastic appliance and would highly recommend.

  • Got this for $229 last year, perfect steak and chicken everytime due to auto grill with temp probe. Easy dishwasher clean.

  • This looks like the first gen model AG551, the 2nd gen model is DG551.

  • If bench space is an issue grab a Whirlpool CrispFry Microwave, can be had for under 400.

  • was waiting for the $229 deal never happened so grabbed it at $300ish during prime day. its very good at what it does we use it almost everyday with steaks, fish, chips etc all have come out very good. Super easy to clean and use, very little to no smoke when using the grill mode. It is a big unit comparable to a medium size microwave. Remember to clean it after each heavy use or the oil will start to burn and have a burnt oil smell around the house for a while.

I think this was around $275 during the amazon prime day deals, I got it based on the reviewers that it does an excellent job in both grill and air fryer mode, however, there were few reviews that the internal grill/air fryer basket can quickly get scratches with regular use,
I wanted to experience it myself and ordered from Amazon during the prime day, I have seen it get scratched just by removing the plates from the packaging, and overall not happy with the internal Grill plate/air fryer basket quality.
For the RRP, it is not worth the cost, but for under $300, I think it is ok if you maintain well.
