File Server

Hi People,

just wanted to know what is the best way to have a file server which supports ipad , iphone , windows OS and Apple OS. I basically want dropbox kind of thing or similar in my house
I dont mind running windows file server with another software to run Iphone cloud backup .

Currently I am thinking to run Freenas as i can take backup via cloud as well as through local LAN.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

  Have you had a look at ownCloud? It is doing what dropbox does, but on your own server, including file synchronisation (Windows, Mac, Linux), web portal, mobile apps for Android/iOS and lots of other stuff.
