  • Is this any good for folks who’re largely indifferent to the overall franchise?

I remember reading it was a bit laboured and drawn out when the first episode came out. I guess that might be triply true for the trilogy.

As a casual fan of the LotR films I didn't think much of the Hobbit trilogy - or I should say the first two films since I couldn't bring myself to watch the third.

Thanks. Life’s a bit short to trawl through all this content if it’s not particularly good.

        • +3

There are fan edits which make it much more watchable, so it's one 4 hour movie rather than three 3 hour movies. Maple Films and M4 are two of the popular ones.

Edit: meant this as a response to 0jay

I’d recommend just streaming it rather than buying it if you’re generally indifferent to the franchise. Amazon Prime Video has it.

I don’t think it’s a great trilogy really, and I particularly find the third film quite dull. I think the first two have more going for them than the third.

The sets a good price for those that want it, but I wouldn’t buy it blind.

    • Thanks. I was about to buy it blind

  • One of them is false

I'd pay more for shortened versions then extended versions. Bloated films, extended could only make them worse.

  • Bought the LOTR 4k set is this worth buying aswell?

[I have a $15 credit from an order getting delayed/damaged]

    • Ended up ordering it since it was so cheap only 5 Left in stock now so if you want it get it quick!
