This is one of those super fun predatory games where you gamble $300 and get nothing good, so you have to spend another few hundred dollars to hit the pity mark and get a copy of a good character/weapon.

I remember in the Fire emblem heroes community, we had some very special people who is known love one particular unit, most well known among them are Sakura guy. In this game, to max an unit's stat, you need to pull them 10 times. Some of these people would save 10k, and pull them live on twitch, and if your luck is shit as that game doesn't have pity, you can fork up to another 5k.
That's absolutely insane.
Those people pumping that much cash in to a slot machine are a big part of the reason that games are absolute trash these days.
That's the thing. This game is not trash, Hoyoverse games are generally decent. Honkai Star Rail is genuinely fun, and you don't have to fork out any money to enjoy the story mode.
However, if you want to beat the additional challenges then it can get really expensive to gamble to get good characters and gear.
You don't have to put in any money if you don't want to.
The game gives you heaps of stellar jades for pulls throughout the story quest.
Obviously you won't be able to get every single banner character being a f2p player. Just need to pick and choose what character you want.
