Help with Selling Second Hand Sports Car

Hey all appreciate any suggestions or ideas. I'm trying to sell my 2016 Kia Koup turbo, a 150kw coupe (0-100 in 7 seconds) along the lines of a Veloster or 86/BRZ. It's a tidy car with after markets rims, sports tyres and Android Auto/Carplay audio setup and low kms. It's been detailed and I have decent photos. Drives awesome and only selling due to growing family. But I've had no luck on FB marketplace or Car sales so far. Cars Guide price range is saying 15K-19K, so I'm selling for 16K, which I feel is pretty cheap. It's a very unique vehicle, and there are only 8 for sale across the country right now which I suspect is working against me.

I've approached some of the car brokers out there, but only getting lowball offers.

I've been told it's illegal to park a car with a for sale sign on it in QLD these days, which is how I sold my last car in 2 days! Back in the day, I would have used a site like Boostcrusing to sell it, but maybe I'm out of the loop I can't seem to find a group like this on the Gold Coast or Brisbane area.

I know it's a bad time of year to sell and that the second-hand market is dropping. I thought meeting the market would be enough. Finding this very stressful as I've already missed out on two cars I wanted to buy. Need the cash to finance my next car. Any ideas on how to reach a prospective buyer welcome!

hi, I'm just ring up another cortina you have advertised in this week's trading post

They were the good old days.

      • Prefer to Sigma

  • If it isnt selling, its one of 2 things…

    1. Price is too high
    2. No interest in the market for that car at the moment.

    Usually its the first.

Redbook says a 2016 turbo manual is $11250-$13350 trade in or $14k-$16k private sale.

I'm sure it's a great car but they were ~$28k new? It's now 7 years old and a somewhat niche vehicle.

Are you advertising as a Kia Koup or as a Kia Cerato Koup. The latter may get a bit more search hits.

Sports car? That's a bit of a stretch.

    Back to marketing school mate.
