Pro-Ject E1 Turntable, Rotel CD11 Player, Rotel A10 Amplifier, Monitor Audio Bronze 50 Speakers $1629 Delivered @ CHT Solutions

90

This package deal seems like an amazing deal. A quick Google for prices shows that the parts from various retailers (excluding the speaker cable) add up to about $2500. So if you are after a complete stereo kit with turntable and even a CD-player, this seem like an excellent deal. Even if you don't include the CD-player (I assume it would be the least sought after item in the kit), it is still a good deal.

Includes:

  • Pro-Ject E1 Turntable
  • Rotel CD11 Tribute CD Player
  • Rotel A10 Amplifier
  • Monitor Audio Bronze 50 Speakers
  • Speaker Cable

And you can chose from a number of different colour combinations of the speakers, turntable and amplifier/CD-player.

Good deal if you use CD players and turntables.

Not so good a deal if you stream.

thank you for the information capt. Obvious.

Good deal if you want to play records.
Bad deal if you are trying to swim the English Channel.

A 40-watt amp with an 85 dB sensitivity speaker won't go loud and speakers this small won't go deep, if that's what you're after.

    • Depends what your coming from? I mean know one is gonna down ground to these for a better sound right? If your getting your first book shelf speakers or upgrading from a budget pair these with blow your mind.

could get far better vintage setup for $3-400 total off gumtree/marketplace if you are prepared hunt/buy each of the 4 components separately

But if you don't know what you are doing, that will possibly be a $3-400 mistake. Particularly if a turntable needs maintenance.

may need a new stylus and belt…+$70 for basic bang for buck parts…if you cant handle that after watching a youtube vid or two, youd better stick to spotify and a bluetooth bassbox!

    • The only risk there is with any vintage gear factor in probable repair costs with the scarcity of parts and repairers.

      • in my experience 70's-80's gear is made to last - unlike modern landfill electronics.

i have a frankenstein hifi setup from all different sources and brands and apart from new speaker cloth and TT stylus everything works just as the day it was unboxed.

i also revinyled the turntable as it was yellowed from age - cost of maybe $5.

been rocking it out for almost 8+ years….amp/speakers gets used daily…about to chill and listen to new 2nd hand CD's scored off ebay now!

    • $3-400 all up is very optimistic IMO . For 2nd hand I'd be budgeting $300ea for amp, turntable, speakers, and maybe ~$100 for a CD player so closer to $1K for a reasonably equivalent package, but would recommend spending a bit more to get above the entry level HiFi spec that this package is.

      • $1K for 1970's-80's marantz/technics/pioneer etc gear? no way mate….you can haggle close to $100 each for amp/turntable/floor standing speaker pair + $50 max for a sony/panasonic etc 5 cd changer/stacker

can even get lucky in thrift shops or verge collections!

may need to replace speaker cloth/stylus/belts but for well under $500 you will have a sweet sounding setup that will match or beat most modern packages - esspecially bookshelf setups like OP!

        • Yes way, but I’m not considering haggling, DIY repairs, op shops, hard rubbish etc.

We’re talking apples and oranges a bit here.

          • @watts: all im saying is if you want a nice, durable system on the cheap its not hard to achieve…these modern bookshelf packages are overpriced IMO for what they put out soundwise…not to mention their fabrication quality

how many will be around in 40 years time like old school marantz/pionoeer/technics etc do you reckon?

  • Would be a decent deal if they ditch the CD player and reduce total price by ~$450.

    • And included a receiver that does USB and internet radio and streams…

      • yeah the amp is pretty lacking in a lot of respects, but the biggest for me is no remote control, and no digital input.

No remote is impossible to overcome, whereas stuff like BT, wireless streaming, internet radio etc is very simple to add with a separate source device (eg. Wiim mini ~$100). Personally I'd rather keep those modern smarts out of the amp so they can be upgraded down the track without needing a whole new amp.

I would rather go with this deal then for $999. Although it is a fully integrated turntable (with phone, amp and BT all built-in), I guess one could add a separate amp further down the line.

      • Amplifier that is built in to the turntable? I would rather just get active speakers if going down that route.

        • Yeah not sure how good it is. It has everything built in too. Honestly speaking, I am only looking at it because of the price. I had my heart set out to get the Carbon and then build up from there. What phono and amp would you recommend for turntable setups?
