Raspberry Pi Accessories

I recently purchased 2 Rasperry Pi Type B Boards for a total of $72USD Delivered

It'll take about 3 months for shipment; but in the meantime. I've been re-searching and I'm not entirely sure on what accessories I should have to play around with the maximum capabilites of this board.

Anyone suggest the main things obviously besides the Hard Case for safety and the 5V MircoUSB Charger Adapter.

If anyone is interested in purchasing the 2nd one. Feel free to offer me a price :) I only brought two to make the 3 month wait worth it and to get some money back :)

Appreciate it :)

  • Fast SD card, Keyboard and mouse are the basics, and don't skimp on a cheap power adapter. Had issues with the really cheap ones from ebay.
The micro usb cable needs to be good quality as well, some of my cables had too much vdrop and the pi started doing strange things. Otherwise there's not much else you need, but it depends what you're going to use it for.

  • There's a list of accessories that these guys have put together.

You don't have to get it from them but it pretty much sums up what you might want to use with the Pi.

I bought the case from them, am quite happy with it. Fits well and looks pretty cool.

For power I got something like this
    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/2-USB-charging-outlets-Adaptor-/2…

There was one listing that I could pick up locally for less than $10 months ago, seller not selling anymore.
Decided to get one like that so I can power the monitor too if there's only one power socket available. =)

Haven't really played around with it much, but I must say I tried a Microsoft wireless keyboard & mouse with it and it didn't work too well. Lagged, and had multiple key presses even though I pressed only 1 key. Haven't had time to try other keyboards, but gathering from the modmypi site I'd say the Logitechs will work much better.

Good buy these Pis! Might not be particularly useful all the time but a nice toy to play around with.

      Hopefully it will not crumble.

  • You will get a rev 2.0 board if it hasn't been sent yet, this will let you backfeed power from a usb hub if you want, as well as mounting holes and a few other goodies (see http://www.raspberrypi.org/archives/1929 )
Accessories depend on use, if you want to use as a media centre you just need a male-male hdmi, a micro usb cable and a tv that powers it's usb port and suppports CEC control (control your pi with tv remote via hdmi)

    • That's hatts great information!

The Raspberry Pi is in stock at Element14 - Made a post in the "General" thread, but this might be of interest to those who want to buy one now. Just ordered a couple for myself and they will be delivered tomorrow.

Note: Free postage over $45, so it works out about the same price to buy 2 of these than 1 + postage.

    • THANKS FOR THAT

was expecting to wait till November for mine!,
instead i'll have two next week :0)
