  • out of stock online damn it

  • I can't imagine this is any good

    • +10

There are many cases of KMart (Anko) products being really cheap yet really good.
I don't know whether that applies to this keyboard though.

      • Got their gaming mouse for 3 bucks https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/633958 and it's so worth it even on its original price.

      • Got an Anko mouse deal for $3 back then at Kmart. Has RGB, programmable buttons, dpi switches, aiming buttons etc. End up being my daily mouse at my office, good enough for my CAD works.

Better than any gamer membrane from the big brands.

    • yep would never buy an anko electronics product.. they can't even get usb cables right

  • +11

Just this week I got sick of cheap mechanical keyboards dying after 6 months and got a Keychron.

Haven’t used this one, but avoid Kogan ones.

    • +4

My Kogan one has been going strong since first lockdown. A bit loud, but I was keen on the blue clickiness at the time. Will be getting brown switches with o-rings next time haha

    • Man i can't wait to get my keychron. I preordered a q5 pro with banana switches. It will be replacing a razer huntsman elite with purple switches. Got sick of the razer after i realised how much nicer my wifes corsair k68 was to type on (cherry red)

      • I have a G915 linear TKL, I ordered it thinking I would like it, but I am not. I find them a little hard to press and the lack of the click isnt giving me that satisfaction(I guess). The actuation force required for my G613 is actually nice, but I need to press them a lot deeper.

        • I always wanted to try a tactile g915. If they ever bought out an updated version with usb c, i probably would have gotten one if i hadn't heard about keychron.

    • Link?

      • I got this one. From days of researching, it seems the K series is their “budget” version of the premium Q series.

        • +2

There's also the V series which is a bit closer to the Q series.

Adding to the Kogan mech KB happy customer list. Only issue for me - the corner tabs have broken, need to prop up with a trip of folded cardboard.

    • +2

The cheaper tier Kogan mechanical keyboards are garbage. Their "premium" line are rebadged Royal Kludge boards which aren't bad quality. If you can pick up a premium for $50 - $60 they're worth it.

      • The kogan ones fail within a year without fail.
        I got refunds four times.

        • +3

Have 3 mates with them, and myself.
          Purchased 2018.
          All brown switches.

          Sill goin' perfectly.

        • +1

I have had a bunch of kogan red switch boards both the cheaper mechanical and the one with cherry mx. I bought spares incase they failed but ended up giving the spares away after about 3 years. After this experience I can't pay more than 50 bucks for a mechanical keyboard - I don't see the point.

      • Do you know what specific model they're rebranded off? I love the spacing and would like to get another and have waited forever for red switch Logan keyboards to come back in stock

    • +1

Was gonna order this cause I can pickup one near to me then your post reminded me theres a kogan kb still in box I bought during lockdown and havent used yet. Thanks for saving me 17 bucks. lol

    • +1

I’ve had maybe a dozen different decent mechanical keyboards over the years, mostly Corsair with a few Ducky’s and all have them failed in one way or another, with the Corsairs the build quality was solid but they all had chatter issues. Recently got a Keychron and actually love it but early days yet on longevity.

    • I've had my Kogan one (I believe there are 2 versions and I have more the more expensive of the 2) for 2 years and it's still going strong.

      • I used it daily for coding (so I'm typing a lot)
      • I believe the switches are supposedly Cherry MXs
  • Just…get a better one…

Even conservatively assuming a keyboard dies in 2 years, spending 100 dollar for a keychron is like only 14 cents per day, not to mention my keychain is 3 yrs old and still going strong.

    • +19

In all fairness it's a bit rough to compare a $17 keyboard to a keychron. Should someone consider this vs one of the dirt cheap pos hp or dell keyboards that are similarly priced, that is a better comparison imo

  • 3 more available at casey central 3977 Victoria

  • For price, it's good, if you don't like you can always return it

  • +6

I have one of these, for the price it’s great. RGB only has certain patterns but still a bit of fun. It’s quite noisy so beware if that’s not for you, but I love it. for $17 it’s definitely a bargain and if as mentioned above you don’t like it, take it back!

  • Blue switches?

  • The mini version still costs $25. I use it for share trading and it works flawless.

  • +1

No budget for keychron and need a replacement for my RK61 that keeps on double pressing now. thanks OP!

    • Take the keycap off and spray it with electrical lube

  • +1

Thanks OP, picked up one from my local store!

  • +1

Eh, why the hell not. Figured I'd check my local store even though it said that it was out of stock (it wasn't).

Not the worst experience I have with that sort of thing at Kmart (put a C&C order in for a lamp and the next day got a reply saying they couldn't find one so were giving me a refund. Checked in store next time I was passing (which happened to be later that day anyways), there were at least a dozen there.

  • +1

    This or a Wooting?

    • this its cheaper

    • this because it has more keys

      • makes sense

  • Are the colours static ?

    • Looks like it.

  • Got one and it looks like a rebadged epomaker with double-shot keycaps.

    • Which Epomaker board specifically? Would argue the Epomaker is (probably) better build quality and more features ie. Hotswap

  • This review 🤣

"The light up display is great. Only downside is how loud the keys are when typing."

  • For those interested in this deal, there are still a few at Grand Central Toowoomba even though their website says there is no stock there. They are with all the other keyboards, just next to the layby desk. It's the Anko brand. I got one and it seems to be good quality.

  • -5

Anko products are usually of bad quality.

    • 1 year warranty which Kmart will honour with full refund

    • +1

I have to disagree, yeah some things are absolute crap but others are actually pretty decent
I grabbed a couple of these keyboards the other day and I'm actually really happy with them, just as good or even better as other entry level mechanical KBs I've used
I also have the microphone that Maker's Muse reviews here and actually gives a good review for the price
      https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1M84sgLRmF0
I use it to do some voiceover work for advertising for local businesses and they're all super happy with the work, so it can't be too bad

  • Picked one of these up a few weeks ago on the spur of the moment to replace an old Microsoft media keyboard from 2003 I use with my work laptop when wfh. It was on 'clearance' then at $19 (not $17) but figured it was worth a shot for the price.

It's actually pretty good (for the price). It's not exactly a match for something like my Ducky but for something that gets minimal use, it's perfect. I think it weighs about one-fifth what my Ducky does lol.

  • Yeah clicky and decently loud.(incase anyone thought a cheap brand would be less bluey then mx blue switches etc. These would be great for the kids….if they have a computer in their room you can hear them using it late at night when they shouldn't be lol

  • I bought one of these for my work station and the keys are as loud they come. My colleagues now really appreciate me when I WFH than coming into the office and they can't wait when I leave the office when I do come into the office.

    • +4

Sorry but using blue switches in an office environment is incredibly rude.

  • -2

its ok, I haven't breached any of my work policies

  • thanks. Got it in store.

  • -1

Why has this been marked out of stock? There's still stock on my area.

    • -1

      oos online

      • -1

This was always for click and collect. Admin keeps editing the post. This is not restricted to SA. Rowville Victoria still has stocks as I'm sure have many other stores.

  • -1

OOS everywhere around my area, seems a new model has replaced this one at the same RRP. Any recommendations for a cheap silent 75% mech keyboard?

  • +2

    Got greedy, bought 2.
For anyone in Perth's northern suburbs, they're still in (diminishing) stock in Wanneroo store. A great bargain @ $17.00 & a no brainer to buy. They still have 12 left in store.
    Thanks OP!

    • +1

Legend @matey - Just bought one at Wanneroo store click and collect! Cheers

is any one having issue with a buzzing noise from the speaker when the LED light is turned on?
Turning off lights is the only way to get rid of the buzzing noise.

I have tried multiple different USB ports.

    • +1

I haven't but if the usb cord is near the speaker cable, try separating them a bit further.

    Best purchase ever..

I have the "professional" mic from kmart and its bloody good
