  • Has anyone been using a magsafe battery pack? Do you have any recommendations? Thanks

    • +2

I don't think this one is magsafe.

But in answer to your question, I've been using the Apple MagSafe battery pack for almost as long as I've had my 13 Pro (~18 months).
It's pretty handy - portable and not egregiously difficult to use the phone while attached. the battery pack itself charges reasonably quickly and can be reverse wirelessly charged by the phone. Temper your expectations - you won't get a full charge of your phone out of a full charge of the pack.
If i know i've got a battery heavy day i'll take it along with me, use the phone without battery pack attached until phone gets down to 40-50%, stick the battery on while phone is not in use to let it get back up to ~80%, then take the pack off and just use the phone on its own (where 80% will see me thru remainder of the day). Seems to get the most charge into the phone and allow it to charge at its max 7.5W (doesn't have to reduce charging speed to heat generated using phone at the same time)

      • Have you tried any third party battery pack? I found some battery pack such as ESR or Anker offers a bit of more battery capacity and it's cheaper.

        • I'ven't. As annoying as apple is, it has been convenient that it charges with the same cable (lightning) as the phone.

This review cites the differences between Apple's and Ankers voltage ratings for the battery to indicate why it offers a comparable charge to larger capacity batteries.

Note that i dont think it will charge the phone >90%, hence the percentages I cited earlier.

          • @Gdsamp: Apple battery pack has the integrated software but the price is high. Overall it's a good choice if the cost isn't an issue. Some third party battery packs could cause the device overheating.

    • I've been using the belkin MagSafe 10k charger for only a week. Got it for $30 after some spare coupons from the good guys and so far it's been great. Slightly bigger than the mini powerbanks, but it's not full sized either.

      • I will buy Belkin if it's $30. Good price. I have been using ESR at the moment. Not bad but a bit of heavy side.

  • this is cheap, but i would pay a bit more and buy one that is wireless and magnetic.

    • any recommendations? need a case that can integrate as well I presume

    • I have a 5000mah wireless charger that adds about 50% to my iphone 13 before it dies, when plugged in I can charge to 100% off the same battery pack. I've never charged my phone from 0% and I've never really calculated the actual percentage gains, but there is a significant efficiency drop for the convenience of wireless charging.
It may also be a really poor quality device, as it was super cheap from an ebay deal.

Depends on your phone. As I don't have a phone that has wireless charging or magnets, kinda unnecessary. But if you were say an iphone user, makes sense.

I've had one of these for a few months, and so far fine, who knows.

    • +1

Which one is wireless and magnetic, but only "a bit" more $22.19?

      Super curious to see those.

  • I was gonna pull the trigger, but I feel 10000mAh is too small for this day and age.

    Nice deal though

    • +2

      It depends.

If I'm out locally I put it in my bum bag.

If i travel overseas I bring my larger capacity one.

10,000mah is sufficient if it is for a couple of phones for the day.

    • Lots of phones are in the 4000mAh range, so you'll get roughly 2 charges from 0%, assuming there's 20% losses in the controller.

    • -2

Completely agree. Need at least 20k mAh, otherwise too much of a hassle.

      • +7

That sounds like "a need a heavy brick" kind of problem where there's a tiny powerbank being sold here…

        • What are you? The possible police? :P

        • +1

haha sorry wasnt trying to take away from this, its a good deal for sure. I just find the constant having to charge the battery pack in a 10k mAh batteries not worth it.

    • +6

I prefer getting 2 smaller powerbanks over a bigger 20,000+ one. More ports, can charge 1 whilst using the other & easier to share w. family; or just lighter weight for shorter days out.

"Batteries: 1 Lithium Polymer batteries required. (included) "

Nope no no no, no no nope!♫
I'll trust Lithium Ion in my pocket or bag, but zero chance you'll get me carrying around a LiPo in a non fire-retardant case.

Everyone has their own level of risk they're OK with, but LiPo stability is just too hit and miss for me. I've been in the RC hobby scene too long.

  • Anyone know if it supports PPS? ie. Samsung super fast charge?

    • Pretty sure PPS super fast charging is minimum 25W - this powerbank is 20W

  • -2

    Is this a genuine Charmast?

    • No, you can only get those from Geergle

  • +1

Tx got one. Only have 2 massive powerbanks so would be nice to add into my bag for a small unit

  • shows 36.99 to me, and the white ones have 25% off coupon.

  • showing $37 ?

  • +1

    Coupon is not there

  • +1

    white is $27.xx with coupon

  • yesterday whole day the coupon was there now posted to ozb and all gone in 1 hr… lol.. the ozb power strikes again

    • +2

This is an older model without the screen that shows power percentage

Looks like 40% coupon is back now

      • thanks grabbed one :)

  • +1

Got it last time for just under $19.
Highly recommended as a portable daily. Small enough to be carry on person. Fast charge so you wont have to be hook on for long. Get your phone from nearly dead to 50% in no time.
The only thing I found crab is the percentage display. It is a bit fussy but you can make out what it is.

    • percentage display. It is a bit fussy

someone said that the case with white but black is okay ?

      • +1

Yep. White is blurry but it’s not difficult to make out the numbers.

Black is very clear. Likely due to opaque material used on white vs clear acrylic on black, display would be the same.

  • +1

So what's the consensus… Yay or nay?

I don't need anything high capacity. I've started using public transport again so something small for that little boost is what I'm after.

    Good deal? Or any alternative?

    • well see the above you…
or just search the keyword brand here on ozb… plenty in the past

    • It's a yay from me.

I use it every day as well since the last deal

    • +1

It’s been cheaper before as per first comment. The size is very compact, I’ve had 10000mah batteries which are almost twice the size.

You can charge it with literally any cable, so even iOS users don’t need a second cable to charge (although only charges at 10W via lightning in).

    • Thanks :)

  • +1

I like to talk as a owner of one. Not as good as my old Xiaomi power banks buts it's pretty dam small and hasn't had a climatic event yet although I do worry as when i charge my phone and other devices with fast charging. The device gets uncomfortably warm and the USB A female connector doesn't sit flush with the male USB cable and the USB A male gets really hot to the touch. To put it simply, I have slightly burned myself when grabbing the slightly protruding metal part of the USB cable, multiple times.

All in all. A cheap and surprisingly small power bank that does it rated capacity.it just gets a bit too warm and sometimes way too hot if you mishandle the USB cable.

  • 40% coupon (on a single purchase) available again this morning

  • The white one looks and feels great in person.

    • that white person?

      • what white person?

        'in person' means personally acquainted.

ie. I am personally acquainted to the white one as I bought one.

Great in the hand and clean looking.

I have no experience of the black one and so can not comment.

  • Great deal, got the white one for the same price

    • someone said the % display isnt clear on the white

      • … not my experience.

If anything I find the flashing/brightness while charging a bit over the top.

      • I bought a white one and the % display is blurry. I thought it was because of the new film cover but I took it off and it was still blurry as.
