Although another grocery item that has been hit recently by inflation, this variety of Dolmio 'Extra' pasta sauce is at a relatively good price, especially Subscribe and Save, and given the 'convenience' factors of 'ready-made' and 'free delivery' for Prime members.

  Fry up some onions and garlic, plonk in a tin of tomatoes and add some herbs. A million times more delicious and cheaper than jarred sauce.

      Not sure who would actually pay $3 for bottled pasta sauce.

      Even if you don't know how to cook it's dead easy and relatively cheap making your own from a can of tomatoes and the basics mentioned below, still makes a decent quantity anyway.

          @puglikesabargain: Oh also, never buy garlic from Colesworth, they charge like $30/kg. Grocers and asian supermarkets will have them for significantly cheaper.

            @ATangk: add fuel and time running around supermarkets and asian grocers - easier to have it delivered free from Amazon for $2.70 for a quick meal. I note also that jetblack said "onions" not "onion" so I was following his recipe

          @jetblack: didnt say use a whole head of garlic lollll but you still need to buy it by the bulb….you also said "onions" not "onion". If you buy one "onion", your recipe seems still not "cheaper" than a $2.70 Dolmio jar when adding it all up. :)

  These used to be $2 on special.
  Just get the Aldi stuff ($1.40 probably $1.70 now..)
  Also not hard to add your own ingredients and Italian herbs.

      Yeah that's all it's worth.
      Agree, inflation and price gouging.

      Time and fuel goin to Aldi is irrelevant if
      - going there anyway to buy other groceries
      - and on way past

      Doubtful that anyone could do many of their groceries from Amazon alone, maybe just the odd special they match the supermarket prices, and people only benefit from the extra subscribe and pay discount. Depends where you live I guess.

  i remember making pasta sauce for the first time, it said 3 cloves garlic and i didnt know the difference between a bulb and a clove. It was very potent!

    Used to be $2 quite often, all they are worth tbh.
    The Aldi ones for $1.39 are fine, they are more expensive now too.
